... Actually made me now want that SEGA releases Out Run in Steam.

Out Run '06 is already available on PC; it's just a matter of buying it.

There's an emulated version of Out Run (along with Super Hang On, Space Harrier and Fantasy Zone) embedded in Yakuza Zero (a great game in it's own right) which is on Steam & goes on sale quite often.

Can't recommend Yakuza Zero enough, also picking up the Yakuza general OST songs in game for your apartment, lol

Also a vote for Yakuza 0. One of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. The whole series is fantastic.

Never played the Yakuza series but I would like to do so once I finish other games I've on-hold. Since I assume Yazuka Zero is a prequel, it's a good game to start with?

Following the release date is preferred due to 1 specific character development, but it's not something to care about unless you're already a die hard fan of it, and already play everything else before 0
But yes, following the timeline and start with 0 is very good

You can either start with Kiwami 1 and 2. Which are remakes of the originals to play more like 0. Or you can start with 0, which is a prequel.

Both are good. I would probably start with Kiwami tough. As Yakuza 0 is arguably the most improved, in terms of content and gameplay. You'll be going up, rather than down in terms of design progression.

actually, Outrun 06 can be obtained for free as abandonware because sega lost the license to use the ferrari and can't sell it themselves.
