Ultra Evolution Update Information

Introduction
  • Kimura (NGS Producer, most-recognized as Episode 2 Director) makes an appearance and apologies for New Genesis' bumpy ride thus far
  • New Genesis' planned inception (everything we saw so far in April) is confirmed to be completed
  • The development team's ambitions were mentioned (previously discussed in Sega's CEDEC 2022 presentation)

Update on the Creative Space
  • "Connect System" allows for Parts to be linked
  • Game Elements can be created via this Connect System
  • Unarmed combat is featured as well as custom races
  • Doors can be interacted with - puzzles requiring multiple rooms can be created

New Element: Portable Holograms
  • Images/Props can be placed anywhere on the field and cities (objects like mirrors/walls/slabs/stamps/plush dolls)
  • They are not permanent when placed into the world

Celshading Function
  • The game's graphics and shading style can be turned into something far more anime-like
  • Outline Emphasis/Shadow Density are adjustable parameters
  • This will work even in the cutscenes - but it will only affect characters

A New Enemy Type
  • More aggressive enemies
  • Name not revealed - but we likely know what it already is from Chapter 5

The Item Catalog page that used to be on the Official Site was useful and I would like to see it brought back.

Answer:
Since we stopped publishing the Item Catalog, we have continually received requests to bring it back. In response, we are planning to reopen the Item Catalog page in a simplified form although it will not be exactly the same as before. We plan to focus on newly released AC Scratch Tickets and publish a page with key information such as thumbnail images of the prizes and item names before the Scratch Tickets are released.

Feedback:
For characters with larger physiques, the waist area of Outfits bulges more than necessary, and it looks bad. Could you please improve this?

Answer:
In response to your request, we are planning to add a function that will allow for some adjustment of clothing spreads over the waist area. Please note this will be limited to NGS Blocks. Thank you for your patience until this can be implemented.

Could you please allow me to apply depth of field so that I can have more fun taking screenshots?

Answer:
In response to this request, we are planning to add a function to enable depth of field outside event scenes as well. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

Feedback:
Due to the large area over which enemies spawn during PSE Bursts in some Combat Sectors, you have to move all over to defeat each enemy. Do you have any plans to address this?

Answer:
Since the spawn area of enemies during PSE Bursts differs in each sector according to the terrain, we plan on reviewing the enemy spawn area in the future.

How will I get building materials and furniture for my Creative Space?

Answer:
Many build parts, the main building materials, will be able to be purchased using new in-game points called "Genesis Points." Genesis Points can be earned through gameplay primarily by completing tasks related to the Creative Space. In addition, when parts of furnishings of PSO2 are released with NGS specs, in many cases they will be sold in the SG Shop. Other than that we plan to release other parts that can be obtained through the Login Bonus, SP Scratch Tickets, SG Scratch Tickets, and so on, although the percentages for these parts will be low. Furthermore, some special parts and collab-related parts will be made available via the AC Shop and AC Scratch Tickets. For these only, we plan to make pre-registration tickets that can be put up for sale in the Personal Shop.

Not really because the combat depends on latency and network for every action, not client side like PSO2.
There's no other game with combat bound to client rather than network and cooldowns.

I would have mentioned Dragon's Dogma Online, but unfortunately the game's official servers are no longer running. And it's deeply unfortunate because there was nothing quite like it - and that game punched far above its grade and was far ahead of its time in regards to "MMO's" in general.

Personally, that aspect of the game is what I feel will bring much more life to the game when the complaint is "there isn't content" because players will be able to create their own and effectively have something to play even if it isn't related to the game at its core. I have always been trying to push for player-created content having a role considering the nature of the Trainia and it was relatively surprising to see that the Creative Spaces will allow for much more flexibility than just "have a socialization space."

It might not be content for you - but it's absolutely content for a lot of the people who aren't so deep and interested into the hack-and-slash aspect of the game which was easily where Phantasy Star Online 2 shined and thrived for so long.

That sounds awful. I don't want to create content, it's supposed to be Phantasy Star Online, not Minecraft lite.

They are just making it up as they go,. They have no idea what they want this game to be so they just keep throwing the current popular thing at the game hoping it sticks. It's sad that they didn't have enough faith to expand on the game mechanics the series became known for.

No matter what game I say, you will say its flaw and how bad it is. Incidentally the only MMO ish I played before PSO2 is Dragons Nest because of the costume modding :D, but I still rate GunZ 1 higher.

Its still GunZ 1 your asking for gameplay, I gave you the answer and you replied with a technical reply for a 20+ year old game that stopped development 10 years ago.

No other existing game comes close through GunZ 1 gameplay every single 'cool action' you see are made by the player is a manual input. It looks easy but thats alot of APM done that broke so many keyboards and hand carpals on daily duels.

However I can tell you in confidence that NO MMO can match PSO2 and NGS level of character customization. Coming a player from Dragons Nest modding costume, PSO2 was the ultimate MMO because of cosplay.

I'd say it's more likely Sega would cut their losses and move on if they needed to compete. Every company wants a cash cow but nobody wants to put any effort into milking it.

Sega has no losses to cut when their cashcow already has barely any effort put into "milking it." Phantasy Star Online 2 stands out as being that game that prints money for Sega without them really pushing the game in a manner that you would expect to see from so many other developers. Even looking at other similar games, those developers could not get away doing what Sega does.

People have been calling this game a lobby dress up game for years. How can this be surprising? Adding more content for those players paying big sounds smart to me.

But what I find it surprising even those who fan over and defend this game are being very negative about the upcoming updates. They said new aggressive enemy types are coming. Maybe you guys will get more difficult content with different enemies. Sounds like it'll be a whole new set of enemies like with Episode 6 base PSO2. That's at least how I would defend the game lol. "Just wait and see first" as they say.

Vindictus would be my answer. yes the server is crap, it's super grindy, weapon upgrading is toxic, and it's cash shop is pretty much very pay to win. but outside all of those and you only look at the hack and slash or action combat gameplay, it is top notch.

ah well, i was on the lucky side then that i have a good ping(30-80ms) on vindictus servers. the lag I felt wasn't on combat but on server things like starting a mission, interacting with drops, interacting with NPC in town, waiting for the enchant to update you whether it fails or succeeded, waiting for raid room to start from everybody in the waiting room being ready.

this is why my vote goes to vindictus is because i suppose i was lucky enough to experience the combat without any hindrance to server issues -- it gave a feeling of accomplishment because a lot of the boss fights are challenging as well. i dont exactly know the experience of people with 200+ ping.

Blue Protocol succeeding would actually be "good" for New Genesis because it means that if New Genesis doesn't get the content players want - they can look to Bue Protocol to fill that gap instead and vice versa. Final Fantasy XIV and Phantasy Star Online 2 co-existed and collaborated with each other (despite being a one-sided collaboration) for having a very similar and still-ongoing connection in that regard.

More competition is ultimately better and less pressure for everyone.

PSO2NGS isnt even the 1st game to have build your plot feature, I maybe wrong, but a Star Wars MMO did it first.

I believe this is a graphics setting that will only work in New Genesis, like the other quality-of-life changes to the chat commands and graphics in recent updates.

Wasn't expecting to see creative space as the big "here's our super special feature" for the June update. Yeah, yeah they announced it but I'm talking about during the time where this was only asked to have and is not on the top priority list. I'm just like "oh, okay" during this announcement. Would've been great if they announced the overhauls of that blasted Add-On Skill and a new update for the multi-weapon feature.
