pso2ngs hard crashing
Is anyone having a problem with pso2 ngs crashing hard a minute or two after you log into game? Iv tried clearing the download cache, reinstalling, verifying files and it keeps happening. crash's so damn hard i have to manually reset my computer. Was fine up until a few days ago and nothing has changed. Anyone else have this problem or any tips on how to fix this?

No, but last post I've seen like this was either due to drivers needing to be updated or a bad windows update. Try checking for drivers updates on your GPU. Also check your crash log. And if you're on windows 11 may the gods have mercy on your soul.

Since end of maintenance I have had this problem on my main desktop PC (game is unplayable on that machine right now because of it) crashes about 2 minutes after actual gameplay begins ... Haven't tried updates or anything yet, didn't have time to mess with it... However the game still runs just fine on my laptop. Will report back if I EVER get time to mess with it on desktop.

Run some system test if you need to reset PC.... Reset as in need to reboot PC. Games or app software don't "freeze" the PC, only hardware or windows driver problems do.

Like Prime95 and Window Memory diagnostics. Might be an impending PC failure like bad RAM or dying motherboard or dying storage device. PC Specs? How old is your desktop?...

For driver problems, can be anything like motherboard/gpu/cpu drivers or windows update or even UEFI. Either update them or rollback to an older version. Try not depend on auto-update too much, some updates do break stuff...

If it's just "unresponsive" as in you can still use your desktop(alt-tab/alt-f4, etc) but laggy, some background software/monitoring is consuming too much resources like memory leaks or infinite loop due to a crazy anti-virus software. Use task manager to check, disable or uninstall said software.

Updating my graphics driver seems to have fixed the problem... I hope it is also that simple for you as well friend.

I think its a memory leak. I get the same Error code "0x887A0007" on Steam Deck and windows PC. The game needs a hot fix. Until then its not really worth playing for me when I crash starting an UQ or am half way through... No amount of reinstalling or verifying files fixes this because every time 144,892 files appear to be "missing".
Note PSO is the only thing running locking my systems up :steamfacepalm:

So i checked the ram and checked the updates on everything. Then i put pso2 on a different hard drive and it seems to be working just fine now. So yep it was a dying storage device. My nvme crapped out which i didnt even think of because its not even a year old and iv only had 3 games that i play the most on. Im glad it wasnt something expensive. I appreciate all the help on this.
I like how 2 years later there are still problems with frequent crashes with this game. I have my settings turned way down and the game is still crashing. Neither the CPU nor the GPU actually bottleneck either. Its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird!
