I'm scrolling down at the ryuker device and I have no idea where people are playing. Combat zones and UQs are always like half filled at most. Exploration had a decent amount.
The only thing I haven't looked at are the new high BP quest which are augment dependent and I really doubt that's where all the casuals are playing.
If I had a guess the player base is fractured with everyone farming something different. Though the primary fracture was having 3000 or so daily active (peak) players across 4 ships.
The current director for NGS has no idea what a game is or how to handle content balance and distribution. The use of BP on gatekeeping content is proof of this; BP calculations are terribly flawed, afaik are never updated, and the BP requirements for new content are often absurd compared to the difficulty of the content.
It's like a much worse version of expert matchmaking, because it fully gates content from players, rather than gating different player communities from eachother at the discretion of said players.
This is essentially why for years players on Phantasy Star Online 2 were stuck at Level 75 because Sega was scared to make new content with "higher" requirements beyond level caps to exclude players until Episode 4 when Sega decided to make the Level 75 Level Cap Trial something "obvious" for people who already played every day to get over time and something seemingly borderline impossible (if not without massive harassment like I had gotten back then) for newer players because it was astronomically difficult to get through "casually."
Since then, Sega has since let the brakes off of that game's progression for the most part and players can now fly through the game - and we see something similar in New Genesis where players can "fly" in levels but are now bottlenecked by Sega wanting everyone to stock up on their favorite stat just to be able to participate meaningfully (and even if you can, you will be shredded by players who want you to pay your way through or to grind elsewhere away from them until they approve of your numbers). The scenario ultimately hasn't changed overall from what Phantasy Star Online 2 crashed into almost even a decade ago.
Steam charts is always a very good way to see how the game's going, 2400x2 is not the same as other shy mmos which are 140 000 x2 because of "crossplay".
Like i said last time SEGA is late bloomer company and dump enough to drink their on poison it (New Genesis)
just look at Base PSO2 history first release in Japan 2012 after 8 years in Japan on 2020 it release at global , Base PSO2 become so famous in 2020 but become death game in 2021 after PSO2 New Genesis release on June 9 2021...now Base PSO2 is death game and PSO2 New Genesis is dead game...nothing good in return from two PSO2 how awesome is SEGA
So people drop the price of items (except the AC scratch items).
Also when it is Spider boss day in Leciel, people hardly can drop it down to 50% HP, so your rewards are always going to be garbage and it makes it pointless to spam the quest on that day.
So yea, less people playing it.
From 3,2 thousand to 1,7 thousand.
I just logged into NGS, it is 9:20AM in the US.
This is what I see: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3021551882
Until I can't immediately find people to matchmake for Urgent Quests or Leciel with, and until I run into ghost towns - the game just isn't dead in any meaningful capacity.
Nice. Less players than a non-arena FPS game from the modern era. Though I wonder how many of the few have been afking for a few hours.
What is the point of posts like this?
Because I disagree with your opinion of the game not being dead **in any meaningful capacity**. The game is not literally dead but it's .... well comparable to other really old MMO games that aren't big names and only the latest content really sees queues. The new player experience is pretty much a singleplayer game.
Also there is truth that a lot of people in lobby are either AFK for hours or hopped on temporarily just to disconnect shortly after doing daily things.
It's not unique to NGS. What I was trying to say is that even some of those players that are seen in the city aren't really playing the games content either.
for new player saw that it was unique.....
for player who play PSO2 from Base PSO2(2012) till PSO2 New Genesis(2021) that is common to watch at PSO2 their is AFK category...
1) AFK at lobby doing nothing
2) AFK at lobby chating with other player
3) AFK at lobby help new player with their question
4) AFK at lobby selling their item cos at PSO2 they can direct sell to player
5) AFK at lobby is R.M.T bots (Real Money Trading) wana hack your credit card
6) AFK at lobby spaming Hintai symbol art
so AFK at PSO2 is common and that long established usual way of behaving or acting been going from generation to generation till now at New Genesis
