Is there a way to install NGS only? 110gb is too much

This is something I wish Sega would address since it's still a big turn off to download a game of that size when I just want to play either the base game or New Genesis.

There is but... I got a strike talking about it. Try the pso2 subreddit for that. But it's NGS-only, not the other way around.

For an official Sega-endorsed method, Sega is currently trying to figure out how to do something like this for their other Global platforms as the PlayStation platform is the only version on Global that can do this at the moment. Otherwise you will have to rely on an external tool that can install New Genesis on its own.

Just a heads up, you're shaving about maybe +30 GB off that 110 GB since NGS is built upon Base PSO2 engine and is not it own standalone game so you are still going to download a bulk of Base PSO2 regardless if you want to or not.

As other have mention, the only way to download just NGS is with the community made tool PSO2 Tweaker. I highly recommend that if you do go with the Tweaker that you read the instruction before doing anything then re-read it again to make sure you know what you are doing and then read it again before you start up the process. Little mistakes can cause you a lot of issue and set you back.

If the files and folders weren't named so vaguely I might be able to do it myself... but it's such a mess that even Sega doesn't know exactly what Files/Folders pertain to which game or they'd be separated already like they are on PS4. How does Sony know, though? That's also something I could find out if there was a way to view Files on my PS4 system or back them up via USB like I used to do on PS3. for every 1 Power upgrade on a new model they remove more of the features that made their last one awesome. This is EXACTLY why I'll never buy a console from them again.

Are you sure about that? They literally cut it in half on the PS4 version. It's a 55 GB download size. Either way it frees up unnecessarily occupied Space for those who don't want or don't need PSO2.

A december 08, 2022 screenshot from discord shows NGS at 53.5GB only which may have been bloated with Stia update.
I had base JP at 80Gb+ levels and they share files so it does not make sense to add them.

The PlayStation 4 version, like the Japanese-version equivalents will download New Genesis and only New Genesis by default. Phantasy Star Online 2 is free downloadable content that must be obtained separately.

I don't know a lot about Compression but both of them are 110 GBs for the full versions according to what's written on the Store page for each but last time I played on PS4 it was before the split. Been too busy to check but I did DL it so guess I ought to check it out before making any assumptions.

The mistake is mine. The PS4 version does not appear to be compressed at all.

Agreed. They should only install the launcher and make both NGS and the base game optional DLC.
