It's better to use 10 m4s and a 20% booster though. Don't be like me, hail marying an m4 with an insurance and a 20% and succeeded. Gambling m4s can be a waste when you can sell them or have 10 to use. Mastery is one of those augs you only slot if you have enough to fill all your gear. 40 or none. That's just because of how potency % is multiplicative. You get the biggest bang for your pot when you have m4 on all your gear.
You get +10% Augs as Login Bonuses, Special Scratches (available F2P, just gotta play to earn them), and exchanging a bunch of Gold Primm Sword at the Item Trader.
+15% in the Special Scratches.
+20% in the Special Scratches and in the SG Treasure Shop.
Scratching is RNG, but eventually by scratching enough tickets in the SP Scratches, you can use a "Select Ticket" to take any prize on the list.
Now for the part that sets off my alarms:
Mastery IV is gonna be a crapshoot no matter what. It's so stupidly hard to craft/expensive to buy that you're more likely to either ruin yourself in Meseta trying to affix one with 9-10 capsules, or waste a bunch of them + Augment bonus items by trying one by one and praying RNG (and you'll ruin yourself still anyways, just slightly less, maybe).
The item for Augment Protection is great for this purpose and keeping any failed affixing, but it (ideally) costs SG too in the SG Treasure Shop so, again, you gotta sink resources into something super expensive and has an RNG based appearance rate just making sure it won't fail.
If you're F2P, the best way to use a Mastery IV is to not use it (unless you've been Captan farming so hard that you're swimming in Mastery IIIs for crafting, then have at it I guess). Best in slot capsules mean nothing when they're this horrible to get and when they're not even that much better than the rest to begin with.
* Gigas Stat III
* Soul III
* Alts Secreta III
* Deft Stat
* Super Stat (new)
* Tria Stat
* Stat III
* Triplble
The first five are actually the budget BiS, without spending oodles on Addi or Mastery IVs. Taking in to account Addi and Mastery IV, you'd go with:
* Mastery IV
* Addi Deftstat
* Alts Secreta III
* Deft Stat
* Gigas Stat III / Soul III
Mastery IV, Addi Deftstat, Alts Secreta III, and Deft Stat are essential since they all provide both Potency and Potency Floor, and not just Potency. Stay away from Dread Keeper, as it only provides Potency Floor and isn't near as useful if you're trying to min/max DPS. Plus, with the addition of Add-on Skills, the extra HP/etc. can be gained through them. (Add-on Skills, that is.)
