characters are missing

I haven't played this game in several years especially not before the new update came out for phantasy star online 2 new genesis content I had forgotten about the game my brother just recently reminded me about it because of the new stuff going to PlayStation consoles so I install the epic games and steam versions which I had before and both of them are missing all of their characters I don't know why the characters are missing I did get a new computer but the old hard drive was added into it so I'm not sure why my characters are not here on either one when I only have one account for each of them this whole thing where I spent hours playing the characters and I'm high-level with them I don't remember their names of the characters but I know I had at least 3 on Steam I was friends with my brother that was playing on my Xbox on his account but for some reason all of his friends list contacts are all gone so I can't figure out what my name was on it because I only had one account on Steam and on epic games I'm not sure why it would create a new count for each one when I launch the game because it should log into the one I had on them before because the account I have now are the same ones I had before but the characters are just missing and I don't know how to get them back

Yeah understandable.

The worst that ever happened to me after coming back from a break was that my Name was unlocked. Means if anyone took that name on character creation its his now. Never happened tho so i was able to keep it.

This is the only MMORPG I've ever seen do something like this. Every other one either leaves your account alone or locks it for safety and when you return, you have to request a reactivation code to be sent to your Email. SEGA is just TRYING to get people to not come back. This is a prime example of SEGA's lack of player retention. "Play our game or lose your account forever." As though you have a gun to your head and SEGA is holding the trigger. Forcing the player to come back every now and then for the sake of keeping your account from being deleted. Most would sooner just take the loss and never return just like they have.

Considering it takes over a year for us to get what minimal content we have now, waiting another year would just mean more of relatively nothing. It would require people to put the game off for multiple years to get anything of substance worth coming back to and when they do return, they have to start from scratch in both Base and NGS... well, I guess that's why SEGA tells everybody to "take a break until more content comes out". Considering this is NGS, people have no choice BUT to wait over a year for "more content". But at that point, you'd be starting from scratch, giving you ~TONS~ of "content" to come back to.

You'd think SEGA would at least try to notify you.

thank you for all your information but I guess it just goes to say that I have to start all over again the only upside is that it doesn't seem to have affected my Xbox account characters the only downside is that those characters really don't have very much leeway on them
