Here's one tip that I think is very important to both.
For base PSO2:
Don't just feed your mag with anything, you have to plan it way ahead from the beginning, a pure stat mag is way better and if you feel need the mag stat boost just buy a mag ticket instead of ruining one mag. The main reason for this is because equipment in base PSO2 are stat checked instead of level checked. If you have pure stat mag you'd be able to equip way better gear early and make grinding way more easier.
For NGS:
If you want to upgrade your armor or weapon only use +20 silver/gold prim weapon/armor as fodder. They have XP boost for upgrading other weapons/armor. Just buy them from personal shop (player market). You'd save a lot of N-Meseta this way.
do main quest, daily, weekly, event then buy cheapest 5 star weapon that has lv15 req from player shop then try to complete 2nd region before 10/5 there is a npc that gonna give you 10 millions exp and when you reach lv40 use event weapon do this you will save a lot of meseta
you also have free 3 character so feel free to use it as whatever you want
I've been playing NGS with friends, so I'm afraid that ship has sailed lol! How come I should playing PSO2 over NGS?
I suggest only play base PSO2 to grind for 3 things:
1. Story
2. Stargems
3. Left Over Cosmetics.
Base PSO2 is in maitenance mode / no more updates.
NGS will continually get updates until the game could no longer earn enough money to pay for the server rent or until PSO3/spinoff launches to replace PSO2NGS.
If you're new in New Genesis, you've got it a bit easier than folks who started back when it first released. The 3 Star +29 gear you get will last you until the mid game and early on you can change classes there, so experiment and see what works best for you. Side-quests there will be a good chunk of EXP too.
As for PSO2 Base, you'll want to do your tutorial stuff first, mostly by doing everything that Afin has in terms of Client Orders, since that'll unlock Main Missions in the ARKS tab, which gives rewards like a decent set of 7 Star Armour and devices that'll give raising your Mag there a kick start as you progress through content.
For getting EXP there, you'll want to do the fourth recommended quest with the EXP symbol. Usually the requirement is getting to Level 8 and the enemies are typically higher level but other players are usually happy to help out if you ask. Doing all the Recommended Quests there is a pretty good idea if you can, too.
Since those result in rewards varying from potential boosters, materials or Bonus Keys for more EXP or loot. It'll be a bit of a slow burn, but there's fun to be had and if you need any help, there's long-time players in-game who'd be happy to answer any questions too.
Hope you have fun with Phantasy Star Online 2 and New Genesis.
Which I guess should be added that if you do go from New Genesis to PSO2 base, combat's more methodical where you'll want to time your attacks and that baring 15-star gear, healing items aren't instant, so that might take a bit to get used to, but you do get more of them along with Healing techs like Resta if you play as a class that can use them.
You'll also want to be careful of assigning skill points in both games too. Sega hasn't issued a Skill Tree Reset pass for New Genesis for...quite some time, so picking something will probably mean you're stuck with it. But...Skill Points you unlock from Cocoons and Towers carry over to all characters account-wise if I recall, even a new Level 1 one, so that's a bit less work you need to worry about if you make a second character.
Let's see...Combat Sectors, even if you do follow the E areas and beat up enemies, the chance of the PSE Level going down doesn't go away until after...five or so minutes, so don't discouraged, you'll get it to max eventually after finishing a Trial (blue or green T) when it's at Stage 4.
Setting your Mag to scan for Rare Items will have it pick up Red Crates which can have armor, Meseta or SG and Alpha Reactors which can be sold for cash, too. There's a side-task in each region that gives a fair bit of EXP if you find most of them.
tips numbers 2= don't desire for power because trillion of mesata is never enough for that power because weapons/ armour always changing and need a lots of mesata
Tips numbers 3= use mesata only on fashion because it will make fun on the game with character you build
Tips numbers 4= always farming at every faming zone in groups much better and get yellow trigger or purple trigger and keep the rare fixa weapons till it enough to sell at market using free 3 days shop pass
Tips numbers 5= always farming for material u need a lots for upgrade and always do Battledia yellow to get EXP and upgrade material

You guys are over the top. Nothing wrong with promoting the old one but please inform the OP that it is now on maint mode and may one day no longer run while NGS still keeps on going.
Does not invalidate my statement one single bit tho.
And even if the base game stops running someday OP can still get tons of SG from it no ? So i dont see the problem here OP only gains from playing the base game no matter how you look at it.
SEGA can point out to just watch the PSO2 Anime, for the story.
SG farming, reduces SEGA's revenue, which could be axed.
Base PSO2 cosmetics would just be recycled in a Orcale Memories XX scratches or be random rewards in NGS.
Its not a future proof advice to focus on base PSO2 at beginners.
Its just veterans players being spiteful.
So in short you wanna deny that base PSO2 is the better game. Got it. If you wanna sit on that hill its your funeral.
Again beginners dont lose anything by playing the base game they only gain. Its not us being spiteful thats just your headcanon that there is some conspiracy going on.
Also if the game really could shut down any moment wouldnt it be the best advice ever to go and play it while you still can ? I would say yes. So again no conspiracy here its all just in your head.
Dread Enemies spawn in preset locations in each region too, with a respawn time of 5 minutes (it used to be 15), so there's a particular one you want to practice on or get EXP/Dread Keeper Capsules, that's not a bad idea if you're in the level range to take it on.
If you collect enough ingredients, it doesn't hurt to make Quick Food from a Ryuker Device either rather than heading to Central City, the buff each type of food (Seafood, Meat, Fruit and Veg) gives is small but it helps a bit.
