Report a translation problem
For example, say you chose to play a Braver with a Phantom subclass. Your Phantom subclass would gain a portion of the EXP your Braver main class would get as you leveled, but it Phantom would stop getting EXP eventually even as you leveled Braver all the way to 100. At this point, to finish leveling your Phantom, you'd have to make it your main class for a while and then level it up via whatever methods you had on hand (most would just use bonus keys or EXP tickets to minimize the time they spend leveling their subclasses).
That aside, you'll never have to worry about losing skill points as they're a set thing that cannot ever be lost. You can accidentally put SP in the wrong class skills, and there's no way to easily reset them outside of waiting for a free reset pass or using a combination of AC and SG to move a skill tree around which serves as a reset, but outright losing skill points is strictly impossible and you're indeed quite able to get every class to max level if you choose to do so.
I believe that's when subclass stops leveling up so if you want to level up it further you need to play it as a main class after that.
