Sudden spikes in CPU before game has complete meltdown. (PSO2NGS)
I've started having an issue tonight where my computer will suddenly sound like a jet engine taking off before the game has a complete meltdown and stops functioning. It's not a fault of my computer's hardware I don't think as I have a modest yet decent still i7-8700 and a GTX1080 and I've run way more complex games than PSO2NGS without any issues.

Anyway, the symptoms: I will be running around the world and everything will be working completely fine, but then my CPU usage will spike to a consistent 40%-60%. When this happens, certain terrain textures and trees will stop loading properly and entities like crates and enemies will stop loading entirely as if the game is struggling to run the bare minimum. At this point, I can still run around the world perfectly fine as if nothing is wrong. Soon afterward however, it becomes clear something is wrong and I will close out the game to reset. Closing out the game to reset it will result in a black screen I can only kill through task manager. This issue has happened three times consecutively in west Aelio where I'm exploring and It's only started happening tonight.

While the game melts down, everything else on my computer works perfectly fine by the way, so it's not a hardware issue I don't think. My internet connection is also working fine.

Is anyone else having a similar issue to mine right now?

Maybe restrict max framerate.

It might also be bad blocks or signs of dying storage device somewhere. From the drive game is installed to an unrelated USB attached drive. It can be any drive so chkdsk for HDD or verify integrity with SSD toolkit or unplug USB devices.

maybe your Harddisk with bad/broken sectors. check HDD health.

It is possible that PSO2 was installed in an area of the hard disk that is damaged. As soon as the PC tries to load this area, such syntoms can occur.

My framerate is already restricted to 60 and I have checked the integrity of all of my drives. They are all flawless.

What's really interesting is collision stops working entirely too if I run to a new area when the issue starts happening. I clip through the ground and fall through into the void, but the servers don't kick me out. It's so weird. I don't know if this is a server issue or a client issue.

I don't think so, no. I've just checked the integrity of my drive and it is perfectly fine.

Might be memory issue. Check:
1. enough ram
2. bad ram
3. validate files

The symptom sounds like file swapping.

I definitely have enough ram (32GB lol) and I did test it as you suggested. The RAM is fine. I did validate the files through Steam afterwards and somehow 82GB of the game's files failed to validate, so I redownloaded the lot. I didn't tamper with the files in any way beforehand, so I don't know how 82GB of the data between PSO2 and PSO2NGS keeled over. At any rate, the game is fine now. Only time will tell if this happens again.
