Controller not working with PSO2

I use a ps4 controller via a blutooth adapter, and it works for every single game I have on steam that supports controllers except this one. Anyone know how to get this working with the steam controller setup, I really don't want to use DS4windows if I don't have to.

If you are using Steam Input you may have to run Steam as an Administrator due to the nature of GameGuard blocking inputs when Steam's permissions aren't at the same level. I have to run Steam as an Administrator in order to get my inputs to work correctly on my end as I also use a Dualshock 4.

Even though every other game I have on steam works just fine? Also I think I have steam set to always run as admin, but I'll double check it.

Edit: I actually just tried DS4windows and it doesn't seem to register inputs either. Like it recognizes the controller, but nothing works when I load up the game. Still works on all my other games though.

I am using usb cable for the ps4 controller and it works with DS4windows. I actually use the free cable coming with the ps4 pro console XD. That is if you are willing to get by with a cable just to play the game :P

I've actually managed to finally get steam to recognize my controller as a DS4 controller natively now after like 4 hours of messing with my pc blutooth settings and steams controller settings. So I guess no problems anymore? Thnx for the responses though.

This.. to add, only disable controller on man menu, not sub menu's or games. as that is needed for most games now, if its not enabled there then i suggest to do so , some games need ti to be "forced on" its a guessing game. Always have controller "off" on main menu" its confusing!

My PS4 controler was not working until I went to steam/settings then controller then general controler settings and pressed Playstation support. The game started picking up my controller and the controller color turned blue...like an ultra blue. I don't know anything about disabling steam input or anything like that. Just turn on Playstation support in settings...

you need accept playstation controller support that may be the thing well i wont lie i used usb wire to play but it worked fine for me ohh yess and ingame you suppose to switch too to controler and yess controler wont work on launcher thats complicated thing on all games with launchers i gues they forgetting that part

After ngs came out my controller stop working on the old phantasy star.

It works, I use PS4 controller as well. In pso2, go to controller settings, set the controller to "Xinput" instead the default one. And for Control display Type, use "Symbols" so the game display PS4 controller buttons.

The default being Direct Input, with steam, doesn't work for PS4 controller.

If you truly have issues, get DS4Windows. But I insist that you try fixing your settings first because again, works for me, and I use my PS4 controller through Bluetooth connection.

Help my controller stopped working on pso 2

My game pad works fine in the menu and in NGS, but when I launch Pso 2 the game pad is not responding. It always has before, and its just tonight that it stopped working.

there are already several topics but :

Option -> game controller and click on the arrows until you put Xinput and "enabled" in the box below.

It worked for me by doing this.

steam messing with my controller in PSO2NG

turn on my pc> plug my ps4 controller> steam says in the bottom right corner "users Ps4 controller settings loaded"> me happy > open pso2 new genesis> skip the cutscenes with my controller > finally on the "press the enter key" screen > steam says in the bottom right corner "Config loaded GAMEPAD">my conrtoller doesn't work anymore > me angry and sad.
For real I tried to turn off the overall gamepad settings but then my controller starts working like the square button will be the ok button and the X will be the back.
Any tips?
I went trough all the other post about controllers but it's gotta be about steam switching my controller config for PSO2NG and can't figure out how to make it work again.
Also I tried:
open steam in Administrator
turning off gamepad settings
using ds4

I have this problem too. I think SEGA said it was a know issue after one of the previous recent updates... nothing about if they are going to fix it or not.
