Has anyone made PSO2 work on Linux with Proton?
For me it isn't working past the start box thing!

it doesnt work anti cheats hate linux via work arounds, as far as i know only windows 7 windows 8 and windows 10 work mac and linux nope(which is why you should always dual boot with windows) windows 10 is free just grab the iso and make a partition and install it and boom dual boot windows from there

Shame, I loved the DC PSO and Blue Burst. I would play this in a heartbeat if it wasnt using something hostile to my OS. When they actually wise up and realize how much of the market they are alienating by blocking linux, I will be here. As will many others.

Yeah, it's annoying.
At least PSO:BB on Ephinea still works on Linux with WINE! :)

The problem is that gg basically loads a driver. What's more, it also hooks itself into a lot of things in order to hide PSO2. If any of this fails then it just kills the PSO2 process.
Because this functionality isn't emulated by the *nix environments (including MacOS) then it will just fail. You would likely need at least a VM to get it to run on another OS.

Apparently WINE is working on support for anti-cheat drivers, so hopefully that will be added to Proton before long!
I still HATE ♥♥♥♥ like this though lol.

That's good news !

Or you could just use windows to play games until Linux is more friendly to anti cheat software.
Or VM it and maybe it won't crash when GG opens up but come on...

I mean christ there comes a point when you gotta accept Linux isn't great for gaming.. It's 10 dollars for a key to boot on some junky drive so you can game lol...

"Will this game also cook cheese sandwiches" type of questions.

Meh.

Imagine thinking you are a revolutionary for trying to play a game on a OS not designed for it.

Meow.

Well, imagine how the IT world would look if people hadn't invested time and skill in Linux, or consider how quickly Linux has been able to play windows game since Vulkan and Valve's investment in it... There's nothing revolutionary in that, it's just facts. Streamlined linux gaming IS coming. It's already here, and I can't wait to be able to play anti-cheat protected games on it. PSO2 seems worthy of waiting (or dual booting, but I'd rather wait than use the resource-hog peep that is windows).

This isn't really true anymore. Native games run well on Linux, and Steam Proton means like 95% of my Winodws Steam games work flawlessly on Linux (the rest are a few that either have very minor issues or don't work).

This is an issue created entirely by devs being ♥♥♥♥♥♥, there are plenty of anti-cheat options that don't cause issues for those who don't use Microsoft's bloatware

Personally, I'd wait until until most distributions update to Linux kernel 5.11 next year. Until then, just dual boot Windows.

I'm in the same Boat, I want to run PSO2 with Linux, Not WinBloats 10.

I'd like it if the Backbone of the Internet (Linux for those that don't know) does de-throne Windows, and I do recall Valve played early on with Linux and got better performance then Windows at the Time they made an article,
it scared MS enough they sent a team to Valve to learn what Valve found, and this was around in 2012!

PSO2 will be on the nintendo switch in 2021, and the latest switch emulator could probably run it on Linux
PSO2 is already on the Nintendo Switch and PS4.

Unless you're talking this version in which case, nevermind.
