The first is given to us, how do we get more? Is it random drop, certain specific exchange, cash shop or what?
As for why there's 30 mag slots on a character, it's likely because there are other mags you can build to besides the ones that boost damage output, like the MEL, RNG and TEC defence mags for instance, or mixes of the 3. Of course, nobody ever actually makes those mags because it's seen as a waste of potential damage, but the extra mag spaces are there in case people do want to maximise a variety of mags. Alternatively, some people may build mags for specific classes by adjusting their trigger actions to suit a particular style of play, for instance, having a pure MEL mag for Hunter with certain triggers, and another for Fighter with other abilities. There's also tier 3 mags that are built with a combination of two stats, like MEL/RNG or RNG/TEC etc. that work better for certain classes. So yeah, lots of reasons for having all those extra mag spaces on a character, just that very few people actually bother having more than 4.
For me - I play 3 characters, one tech(force, tecther, bouncer, summoner ) , one rng(bow braver, ranger, gunner) and one melee(hunter, fighter, katana braver). 1 Mag each...
