Report a translation problem
Most of them have only English, as is the case with PSO2.
The only way for us Europeans is to learn some written English.
Set the dub in Japanese, and profit. Especially if you used to watch Anime you should know some Japanese.
Edit: NVM. This thread is 10 days old and someone brought it back to live lol.
French? Really? I had no idea that market was that Big...
Yes, but that is disappearing too. The last time I saw French was on Star Ocean 5 on PS4.
2016
I think today's JRPGs only have English.
Only mainstream titles like Dragon Ball have DE-IT-FR-SP-EN the glorious Multi5
Also, asking for a missing feature does not equate to "complaining." These are discussions for a reason, so we can speak out.
The lack of translation has nothing to do with exclusion of non-english speakers, it's about money.
Did you ever encounter a game that was translated so poorly that you needed to switch back to english? I did with a lot of games.
Same but I switch to Japanese, even English has a lot of problems due to some localization teams.
it's rare that the voice acting is on par with the original voices (sure, it does happen sometimes, but it's really not common)
(edit: so i usually always use the original language, whatever it is, in most cases it has the highest quality because it's nearly impossible nothing gets lost in translation at all)
if it's more about just the text and not the voices i've had so many friends play games in german and then look sth up and not understand what they were talking about, because stuff has different names.
so if you're not just playing the game, but also talk about it on the internet it's (imho) better to know the english names of skills, items, etc.
also, regarding pso2, the english translation already has some errors, so i certainly wouldn't want to know how bad a german translation would be. i'd imagine something like those horrible mobile game translations (which seem to be even worse than a full google translation), especially with games that don't let you change the language
More people speak English as either a first or second language than any other in the world.
A VERY quick Google search proves that.
People still arguin about what is the most spoken language in the world...
Although English is the best known globally thanks to the internet, and some states have it as a second language, they don't necessarily know how to speak it. This is a very rough statistic.
A fact is Chinese, a language actually spoken by an immense number of people. Japanese games are also localized in Chinese lately, there is a lot of market demand.
Undoubtedly English and Chinese are the most advantageous languages to know in 2020.
Deep regret for all nations with a smaller population, there will always be little market demand or almost zero.
Hindi is most like a problem of another nature. I mean, there are really a lot o people in India but internet and videogames are not for all. Zero market demand.
Imagine an Albanian, a Romanian, a Greek, how do these people do? They are forced to learn English if they want to play games or even to watch movies. And certainly English is not the second language of their states.
The most fortunate European states are France and Spain.
Italy and Germany not and their languages are used less and less on localizations.
I was born in a country with low market demand and my language is never included. I had to learn some English to be able to play and watch anime. Eventually I also learned Japanese for convenience.
My situation is the most common here on Steam.
So uh like ... every other language ?
at least in english you don't need a bloated and redundant vocabulary for every day conversations.
