PSO2 "Not-so" Global release - Region locked out of my country and it still says no ip restrictions
title says it all, it kinda sucks that other countries from EU and SEA can't access the steam page just because it's region locked, and yet the devs didn't realize of the major screw up they just made themselves. MS store version nukes itself, tweaker still doesn't work for me cause i tried.

You can't call it "Global" and have EU and SEA regions locked out.

They don't region lock. For the MS store version, You literally just change the website from your local language to the US one at the bottom of the page.

Then add PSO2 to your MS account and boom, play PSO2. The only thing the MS Store will block beyond that is purchasing AC, which can be gotten around via USD Gift Cards and the Xbox phone app.

Australia wasn't initially "allowed" to play at launch either, But just doing as i described above and I've been playing without need for a VPN since PC launch happened. Just had to grit my teeth and buy gift cards from a grey market because Amazon and playasia region lock payment methods.

Steam version should work the same way as the MS Store version, just VPN (Any free trial one would work) to set your region to the US or wherever, Add PSO to your Library while in the VPN, and then the game should be playable for you without said VPN.

Though I'd imagine you'd need the VPN to buy AC.

EDIT: Huh, Apparently Steam likes to issue account bans for using a VPN to slide around region locks. Maybe don't do that.

In light of that discovery, i would actually recommend using Tweaker to get the MS Store version and play using that.
When your region gets added to Steam, You can link your MS version to Steam and keep all your progress.
the ms store always opens the windows store app when you click "get"

Nah, their TOS said otherwise actually, as long as you acquired the currency of the country you switch to, you're freely to use it

For those who can't download go to the MS store and change your region to USA. It should allow you to play the game.
changing the ms store website region is useless since it still opens the ms store app, so need to change the pc's region
♥♥♥♥
can't change steam store location freely anymore

This game uses loot boxes and you expect them to allow you to play in places where loot boxes are legally banned? Do you want SEGA to be sued? It's only logical that this game is restricted from such places. Global means everywhere in the world that they are legally allowed to have the game.

i believe the region locked countries have anti gambling laws in place that forces steam to not publish the game in those countries, or maybe its sega i dont know. sadly they dont go out of their way to just disable the gambling aspects and publish the game anyway for those countries. thankfully there are workarounds though. as a dutch guy ive been playing this for years with premium now. while its blocked on steam for me (ms store + tweaker works )

i wouldnt risk your account on steam messing with vpns or region settings though as they are making those rules more strict every year
CS:GO also has lootboxes and Players in Belgium simply can't use them (cannot purchase nor open them)
Star wars battlefront 2 also has lootboxes and i'm still able to get them with in game credits

changing my win10 location to france and using a vpn, i'm able to downlod the game
i'll see if i can still play the game even after changing it back to belgium since apparently the game itself isn't geo-blocked, only the stores

yeah it kinda turned into a grey area didnt it? triggers me hard
looks like the law about it either bans lootboxes systems in which you can sell them or their content for real-life money (like steam marketplace) or lootboxes systems in which you buy them directly with real-life money instead of having to buy in-game currency that is used to buy them

you can download the game via tweaker with microsoft store as source then play without using VPN whatsoever

But Valve is completely fine with not recieving money from everyone so long as they still turning profit from a game from total player base, while Sega executives are very sad when somebody playing their game and not paying them money, so if you can't pay you are out.
That is a difference of approach of pro-player eccentric with an unnatural dislike for the number 3 and Japanese game company that thought to be owned by Yakuza.
