Is there still gonna be height restrictions in character creation?
The Windows Store version had dumb height restrictions on NA/EU servers, any idea if that's still a thing? :steamfacepalm:

Yes. Because they don't want to be held reliable for players breaking the law.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1466A
Yes, because PSO2's character models which show no nudity regardless of what outfit you put them in are clearly in violation of laws about sexual exploitation material. Never mind that Steam sells uncensored porn games with "minors" in them already, or the hundreds of other games available on Steam and consoles with more extreme content than anything PSO2 has to offer.

Just admit you find it distasteful instead of pretending it's a legal issue when it isn't.
1. I'm impressed that you still haven't read the law, despite being linked to it multiple times.

2. No nudity is required. Did you honestly just say that? Do you think you can dry hump a toddler and post it online just because you're both wearing clothes? What in the actual hell... What a horribly stupid thing to say. I can't believe you just tried to make that argument.

3. Steam doesn't sell anything. Steam is a platform that allows others to sell their own products within a virtual marketplace. There are plenty of games that have been listed on Steam that were in violation of various laws. So blatantly in fact that no argument could be made against them and with enough reports, said listings are removed.

4. I've yet to see a major adult game released on Steam with questionable material that skirts western law that doesn't require a patch to remove censorship specific to the Steam platform. All of the character creator games have censorship.

Clarification: Valve sells a few of their own products. Steam is a platform.

Tell that to the non-sexual visual novels Valve booted from Steam just because someone at Valve felt uncomfortable with their fashion.

Also, most of said games you mentioned sidestep Valve and offer off-site patches to restore adult content that Valve would've blacklisted the game over.
Steam is inconsistent, yes, but this doesn't actually change that they are continuing to sell games that contain explicit sex with "minors", which they obviously would have pulled from sale if they were actually concerned about it being illegal. And it still demonstrates a very clear line between actual "potentially illegal" content and what PSO2 had which was censored completely needlessly.
From the looks of it Sega is just following what other Japanese development studios tend to do when they alter their games for the west. This is most prevalent with games on the PS4, as Sony takes a rather harsh stance on anime games in particular. I imagine its more a fear of what could happen, rather than what realistically would.

While steam is more open with what it allows, i can easily see the day where even the most tame anime titles have some form of censorship in them. Hopefully ppl wont just roll over and accept defeat, as this goes further than just PSO2.

1. You're strawmanning like crazy. You made that analogy. Not the person you're replying to.

2. You should really stop equating drawing/renderings to real life child abuse. That could be viewed as horribly offensive to real people who are actual victims.

As far as games depicting sex scenes involving "minors", its generally Steam's policy not to allow it. There are only a few exceptions that have gotten through, most before the policy began to be enforced. The most notable exception is Life is Strange 2, which features an explicit sex scene between two underage characters, that is given a free pass because when a western developer does it, it's considered to have "artistic merit". Personally, I find that distinction to be grossly ethnocentric and xenophobic.
1. He specifically said the characters aren't nude and therefore that law doesn't apply, which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I gave an example to show off just how stupid such a statement was.

2. Experts have found that fictional pedophilia can act as a gateway that makes the viewer want the real thing.

3. At least you shot down this part of his argument. With that said, art is one of the exceptions to this law, which is why some games are permitted.

1. I know what the law is.

2. Good job putting words in my mouth. No, I said that nothing in PSO2 is even remotely in violation of any such laws. Try arguing against what was actually said instead of trying to paint your opponents in a dodgy light to win an argument.

3. Steam as a platform is still required to obey the law and take down anything that would violate the law, they made this clear when they brought in their new rules that explicitly allowed anything that wasn't "trolling" or "in violation of US law".

4. Evenicle. Go look it up. Or don't. It's not really relevant, since as already said, the content is far more extreme than anything in PSO2, which only a complete fool would consider in violation of American law for its sexual content when games like Senran Kagura can sexualise characters like Mirai without issue.

Really surprised Steam discussion is full of tumblr-like attitudes that paint anyone who draws, watches anime, respects eastern culture, plays weeb games(like PSO2) as a sexual deviant while also ignoring the fact that when they do this they are the ones blurring fantasy and reality so close together that makes something harmless very problematic.
Pedophiles are the garbage of the planet- People who want unrestricted freedom on a creator because other versions allow it- is just commonsense. Freedom is good- less content is less good. More content is better than less in a game you may pay for.

I guess I gave steam forums way too much credit. I hope that when they try to use their toxic illogical arguments in-game that they'll be laughed out of the room by the veteran players who just enjoy playing the game and have since day 1. Which I am almost positive will be the case.

All games are art, so by your own logic...all games are permitted. Whether steam allows said games on their platform, is completely their decision, just as it would be Epic's/Sony's etc

Welp, this was easy...

Evenicle legal disclaimer:
https://www.gamegrin.com/assets/Uploads/_resampled/resizedimage640360-Disc2.jpg

The disclaimer states that all characters are intended to be 18. It also states that all sexual scenes are artistic in nature. It then goes on to say that it is your responsibility to "check to make sure this software does not violate your jurisdiction's laws." Confirming that they admit that some content in the game could be illegal depending on country of purchase, even if anyone can purchase it on Steam... Whoops.

It's weird because "lolis" exist as NPCs and are sexualized in-game. So if you don't want to see them- you're better off not playing. Hell- even Matoi is 15 with her many outfits that show her ass and breasts. And she's pretty much the main character. Sarah- another main character is below minimum height that you can create characters as well- there's a scene where her clone says she's showing too much skin. And is she? Well maybe- perhaps you might need to take a step back just incase the sheer amount of underage npcs being sexualized ingame.

And don't watch the PSO2 anime either- there's an onsen scene where characters appear completely nude. That would cause you to blow up.
