Any Tips For Getting Bait? (Pre-Hardmode)

I've been doing some fishing quests for the Angler recently, and I have noticed that I lack lots of bait. I'm barely getting Grasshoppers from grass, Worms from rocks, etc. Is there any good bait source I should try catching? NOTE: I'm in Pre-Hardmode, so I can't get the Lightning Bug and other Hardmode related baits.

Catch fireflies. They're plentiful, decent bait power, and they show up around your house at night.

One of the wierdest ways of getting bait i came across was when I tore down an old house with wood panel walls. As I bashed away each wall block out poured a couple of worms. By the time I had removed the entire wall of only a small house I had over 200 worms. It was crazy. I've tried to repeat but never managed it. Might have been because the old haouse had been built in a Living Tree
