bad biome spreading
How can we prevent the corruption/crimsion, and ESPECIALLY the hallow from spreading on a newly hardmoded world? the reason is the undground hallow is impossible for me to survive in and I had to stop playing in my old world cause it spread too much.

The less demon altars you break, the slowest it will spread, you may want to dig a 5-7 blocks hole under and on the sides of your house to prevent the biome to get into your house.

Don't forget to line that hole with some bricks; the vines that can grow will enable transmission over the gap. Might want to isolate your jungle, desert and oceans with the same brick-lined gap.

Just keep mining for the hardmode ores, unless your playing on expert mode adamantite/titanium armor will reduce the damage you take from early hardmode enemies to neligable amounts. And once you beat one of the mechanical bosses you can buy the clentaminator from the steampunker which will let you turn the Corruption and Hallow back to normal.

It would be a good idea to quarantine the hallow, crimson/corruption before HM kicks in, around 6 blocks on all sides should do it. But still try to do it if you've just started HM but if you really need to "reset" the biome you can use the Clentaminator and green solution to get rid of the hallow.

i remember the first time i built my house to close to the corruption and when i went in to hardmode my entire city was corrupted and all my npcs got murdered, it actually made a very entertaining playthrough having to relocate and build a new base, was also the dark souls mod which is a crazy mod.

there is no way to issolate the biomes before they start spreading as far as I can tell

Demon/Crimson Altar breakage doesn't affect spread speed, it has a chance to spawn a block of Corruption/Crimson/Hallow in a random place in your world that then grows to become a huge biome. By ML if you don't do something about it viewing your world with TEdit or something similar is an art show :P

is there anyway to get hard mode ores, and NOT have the biomes spreading ESPECIALLY the Hallow?
Roarak Sep 10, 2016 @ 2:27pm
Crates from fishing have a chance to contain hardmode ores if you open them after hardmode starts, you'll need a lot of crates to get a full set of armor from just fishing though

Here is the complete lowdown.
In pre hmode, the evil doesnt really spread. Its just that it spreads really slowly. Sunflowers prevent it from spreading.

Hardmode:
In hardmode, sunflowers no longer protect you. The evil will now spread. And by smashing a demon/crimson altar, there is a 33% chance that a random block of ebon/crimstone will randomly appear in your world. The most tedious but efficent way to prevent these biomes from spreading is digging a hellavator every 20 blocks or so. Do this across your world. This is very time consuming, but it pays off in the end.

Other Notes:
Purifying Powder or a Clentaminator will help you purify the evil for good, but I do not reccomend this as you will need the key of the evil to get the Vampire Knives or Scourge of the Corrupter.

Hope this helps.

In Pre Hardmode, Corruption spreads to grass blocks only, while in Hardmode it spreads to grass, stone, mud, ice and sand. Purifying Powder can be bought from the Dryad and the Clentaminator can be bought from the Steampunker, you don't need to visit the dungeon at all.

Fishing like WTFohitsyou said, it's pretty boring and very longwinded however. Or I suppose you could go Summoner to beat the Mech Bosses (loot from Spider Caves) and skip straight to Hallowed or Chlorophyte Armor. (Note Hallowed Bars drop from the Mech Bosses, you don't have to enter the Hallow for them.)

He's talking about needing the key of evil, which cant' happen outside of a corrupted biome. So, if you elimate all the corrupted biome on the map, you will never be able to get the key of evil.
Sure, you can eliminate all the bad blocks, but you can kiss getting the Vampire Knives or the Scourge of the Corrupter goodbye on that world. :)

Corruption or Crimson I should add. Whichever one is in your world, and whatever key it drops.

Oh yeah, well the Eye of Cthulu drops crimson/corruption seeds so you casn always make more of it, in controlled amounts

But the fact that it would take forever to grind on an artificial biome is so tedious.
