Thorium and Calamity: Sea Scales?

I have both these mods installed and i had just started a new character and world, deciding to get aquatic stuff to start with. Thing is, iv killed quite a lot of sea mobs so far and no scales. The interesting note is that it says in the Thorium wiki that theyre a 100% drop

Iv also noticed Thorium biomes and the swamp biome from a small mod i installed are not present in my world. Does Calamity override/clash with Thorium stuff?

You can. But i dont see any Thorium content in my world with Calamity installed. I just (tried) to check for the aquatic depths biome and i didnt make it out very far but it says "a huge hole" so im sure idav found it if it was there

I never have used mods in Terraria but Calmity is one I hear about the most. Do you recommend that as a first mod?

Id adds a lot and may be overwhelming but i myself havnt progressed through it since my friends are being lazy bums and wont join me

It does add more to do post moonlord, and some of the stuff is really awesome. The bosses also add another depth of difficulty. Id recommend it
