If you beat Twins, then you can do the Old One's Army until you get the Tome of Infinite Wisdom. The rightclick Ability summons a tornado that moves along the ground and will absolutely murder The Destroyer in just seconds with a Mage loadout.
Skeletron prime is basically a stronger Skeletron. except this 1 doesnt shoot skulls(expert/master). The prime target should be to destroy its Laser gun. if that's destoyed you can eazly just Focus all fire against the head. Have some decent wings to ascend somewhat high to avoid its head spinning attack.
The Destroyer, You can abuse its Block Limit by building a small sky platform. where it cant deal its massive damage(head). and block off majority of its lasers. have a ''Rain'' Weapon. and good range options to deal damage to the probes and the destroyer itself.(The Stormbow from the hallowed mimic can help with Holy arrows to kill destroyer)
Twins, A big suggestion is to build a skybridge. And kill The Melee twin first if you can. that 1 can deal the most damage and is quite hard to dodge sometimes. Use Range options. as usual.
Accessories are a bit of a personal choice. My loadout currently(Master Lets play.). Shield of Cthulu(expert). Shark teeth neck(Upgraded version). Wings(Frozen). Terra Boots(last tier of Boots.). And Ankh Shield(you can get Ankh shield before mechs). (Expert slot:Corrupt/Crimson boss Expert item) (Master Slot:*Class* Emblem).
If you happen to be on a Crimson world. Getting Golden Shower(20 ichor. 1 magic book. and a few souls of night). is adviseable. it deals a powerful debuff with works against most bossess (The Destroyer being immune to all debuffs)
I managed well over 4000 DPS with highly sub-optimal gear in Expert mode (Orichalcum armor, no Ranger emblem, accessories were all movement or defense-oriented and mostly forged for defense) A long row of platforms about 40 tiles above the ground is probably all you need arena-wise. Maybe bring the Onyx Blaster (any kind of ammo, really) to pick off probes if there's too many of them at once; the Dart Rifle can do that as well, but the dropping flames will just spawn new probes when they damage the Destroyer again.
The second part? That's the idiot part. You'll want to buff yourself before trying. Ironskin, Regeneration, maybe Thorns, and at least one of the food buffs. This should be the minimum you're looking at. Have a Campfire and Heart Lantern effect up where you want to fight them, and set yourself a decent flat area to work from - try to remove all things which are going to trip you up like holes or water. You're going to want the Greater Healing Potions... having something which shortens the cooldown like Philosopher's Stone or Charm of Myths will be useful. Wings? Almost necessary for mobility. Get the best armor you can, because it's going to be needed.
The easiest is maybe Skeletron Prime, even though it has a ton of hit points and can deal a decent amount of damage back at you. The head has four arms with it, but those have significantly lower HP than the head, and can be destroyed. One of them shoots a laser, the other a bomb which explodes on contact (it does not destroy blocks), and two other arms which basically just go for collision damage. Occasionally, the head will grow spikes and spin at you - this will hurt a lot. Once the arms are dealt with, the head is easy enough to fight off if you can just move quickly enough backwards.
Second easiest is the Destroyer. It is going to be a pain due to it being a worm-style monster which can loop back on itself. It doesn't break apart like the Eater of Worlds, and each section can fire a laser at you before that laser probe disengages to fly loose and chase you. Piercing weapons do a lot of good here, and it's really a case of racing to kill it before dawn.
The Twins are a pain. There's no way around it, as each eye does something different. One fires lasers at you, the other charges at you. Once you get them to half health, they each change - the laser one sprouts a laser turret and rapid-fires; that's the easy one. The trick is the other eye will vomit a cone of green flame about 7-10 blocks long at you and chase you. It will stop, just in time to lunge at you three times. Once it's done lunging, it keeps vomiting fire at you. They don't seem to have as much health separately... but they can rapidly pour damage into you.
Chances are, you're not going to beat them the first try. The good news is, if you can beat just one the Mushroom Spear can be acquired - it's not a bad choice for taking on the Destroyer or Twins. Hallowed Bars are acquired on beating one boss, meaning you can likely improve your gear just a little bit more for the next one. (The Gungnir is NOT a bad choice if you can't afford the Mushroom Spear or don't have access.)
For example, summoners have all the more reason to do Twins first, in order to get the optic staff so you have the Twins summon for the other bosses. Twins are a pain for a traditional arena fight, but also one of the most easily exploitable with a railway and ranged attacks (regardless of type) or summons.
Overall thou, mechancial bosses, and by extension all hardmode bosses come down to preparation, preparation, and more preparation.
Proper arena, rail system, or some other structural set up, is important. This included heart lanterns, stars in jars, campfires, and every other world object that causes hp or mana regen.
Potions, and other food buffs, are important. Buffed HP, defense, damage reflection, and so on, are all things that could be the difference between a squeeking out that victory, and failing.
Lastly the fine tuning of gear itself. Be sure to reforge what needs to be reforged, and have proper equipment. Be sure to farm souls of light/night and make keys, and get those premium items from relevant mimics. Those are particularly powerful tools for certain classes and play styles. (Daedelus bow on archer being the most mentioned, prime example.)
People are posting wall of texts, its crazy to me
Destroyer=piercing weapons since it's a long rod and anywhere you shoot it'll hit it. Having multiple attack piercing items will help you indefintely.
Skeletron prime=just take out the flamethrower and lazer hands then the rest are just a tanky skeletron from pre-hardmode but with armor
the twins=this one is a bit tricky. Take out the purple lazer one first than then the green eye'd one that will charge at you and spit green cursed flames. Never kill both at the same time and NEVER TAKE THEM ON BOTH DURING THEIR SECOND PHASES. The better thing about them than the eye in pre hardmode is that they usually stay in one spot until one is killed. Even then they usually close in on you.
After defeating one you wanna use the items to craft stuff. Skeletron prime is actually on par with the destroyer as the easiest and you can craft the flamethrower once you kill it via the souls of fright and hallowed bars it drops.
melee=pretty bad for them since most beam swords suck
mage=okay
ranger=most people's go to for the arrows
summoner=pretty bad on par with zerker. You just don't have the necessary gear just yet to take on bosses.
it's hard but once you kill the 1st the rest fall like dominoes if you kill them using the stuff you can craft from their drops.
it's also a good idea to craft other armors like frost armor. In fact don't just use basic metal armors from hard mode you wanna explore a bit especially in the hallow. Hallow items have a ton of ♥♥♥♥ like penetrating cyrstals and staffs.
Edit: maybe also farm desert underground chests for a Bast figure.
Granted, that's with classic difficulty logic.
