An interesting fact about the gravity potion
I was thinking about this particular potion recently, no, i don't know why either.
So the thing that crossed my mind was that if your character is flipped, how do you keep moving in the correct direction?
If you are running right -> east... when you flip you will start running west.
This is because running right is still running right, so upside down you will run right but you will go west.

I was thinking for ages how this could possibly work, i thought maybe the controls were reversed. But then i was still moving in the correct direction and not the reverse direction.
Then i realised... the whole screen is reversed. Yes, that's right. If you flip with a gravity potion then turn your head upside down, east becomes west. Crazy huh?

And that's how it works.

To be fair the compass directions in Terraria are already pretty screwed up with the direction that the sun rises and sets as it is if you compare it to earth. So it only makes sense that the gravity potion is equally weird.

Yes i thought so, if you use a gravity potion it corrects the cycle so it rises in the east.
This is groundbreaking stuff.

I personally miss how it used to be where it flipped just your character rather than the entire screen. But, sadly that version of reversed gravity is no longer a thing. Except perhaps mods? I dunno if any exist that actually restore that or not though.

I mean, east is still east, regardless of the direction you're facing or you're orientation to the ground. So if the game regards it's directional inputs as left/right, then yea the whole screen is flipped to ensure you keep going "right". But if the game regards direction inputs as cardinal, then the screen doesn't need to be flipped in order for you to be going in the same direction.

But the screen is flipped. Just check the screenshot. Impossible to reverse the letters of the statues otherwise.
