any mods that improve terraria but keep it vanilla?
I like vanilla terraria. I want to keep my playthrough vanilla but at the same time i feel limited or everything is plain almost.

If anyone has played tf2 for a while, you may know you can add scripts and codes to make the game look better, or worse, etc. and some simple things like binds and what not. I was wondering if you can do the same thing in terraria? Like Improve the sound, make the head look around, stuff like that. Even a custom hud? Almsot like if you cgo into terraria files you can turn on the seed thing so you can type in your seeds or random genarated worlds.

anyways, point is, is there anything i can do to improve the game but at the same time not completly change it? I want everything close to vanilla as possible.

It depends if you want to use a modded terraria or just have vanilla with sprite changes

mods and vanilla are opposites, so no you cant add mods and still have it be vanilla. Thats like asking is 1 = 0?

You can look up videos on how to turn on Experimental Mode on Terraria and it allows for the addition of Texture Packs, Seeds, etc. OR you could download the TMOD loader for mods

Well I mean if he wants custom HUDs or head tilting, etc he'd need a modded Terraria

Plus you could just play Vanilla with just boss bars, and a checklist. Just some visual changes, not like modding it to calamity and getting murdered when your first night is blood moon :P

I want to keep the game vanilla as in no new weapons, mobs, or items. I want the base game but improved.

If you want improved there is always the terraria overhaul mod.

It adds a couple of items and enemies (nothing compared to other mods of it's size though, such as calamity), but the majority of the mod is changing things rather than adding. From minor changes such as the head looking at your cursor and changing the boss music to (imo) far better music, to bigger changes like completely reworking the movement system and weather.

It's probably a much bigger change than what you're looking for, and it does add a couple things, but I'd still recommend it.

I know a few things about scripts and codes in video games. Could i pick and choose what options i want? granted the scripts are organized and easy to read?

Look up Helpful Hotkeys. You'll need tModLoader for it, but it adds nothing but hotkeys.

I'd also recommend Yet Another Boss Healthbar and Boss Checklist, like Phishy said, as well as Recipe Browser. None of these three add anything but UI.
