I have a character to test stuff and I could create a Small World just for that.
The use would be place Demon Altar in the Crafting Station Room of my house, allowing me to craft stuff without having to find one around the world or inside Corruption. The same usage for Lihzahrd Altars, instead of going to the Temple to summon Golem I can do it in an area close to my house.
