Beetle armor versus Solar flare armor

Which one is better because the Beetle armor has more 10% damage resistance then the Solar flare armor but less defense.

I think solar is bether because it has more armor, you can dash and if an enemy hits you it will explode 3 times (after 3 tumes you must wait a few seconds).

The reason I think beetle armor is so good cause it has 45% damage resistance and 68 defence compared to the solar flare armor with 35% damage resistance and 88 defence. I'm thinking that damage resistance is better then the defense.

use master ninja gear accessory for the same dash. it also gives you a 20% chance to dodge any attack. so 1 in 5 attacks will miss you. you should have that on anyway regardless if you have a dash already.

and octumus you can kill moonlord without using any armor at all.

The damage resistence of beetle armor is only at a full charge capacity. it lowers with each subsequent hit. afterwards though. As with most things in Terraria, they're very situational, depending on the player skill as well as whatever situation the player may be in. So, if you're good at dodging, the beetle armor is probably better to absorb what few sporadic hits you do take, if you're bad at dodging solar flare armor might be better since the higher base defense would still end up with you taking less damage if you're being hit repeatedly.
