Screw Explosive Traps.

I was doing a Hardcore Playthrough. I was doing very well. I was beating bosses very easily, I was making great progress, I had beaten plantera 5 times in a row without any trouble, I was looking for the Lizahrd Temple...
And than in the blink of an eye as I tripped an Explosives Trap and all of my 40 hours of progress went down the drain. I had full health,(I think at least close to full) Full Chlorophyte Armor with the mask, and all of my current accesories had warding, though I had no buffs. I lost all of my progress to bad luck and a death that I could not of forseen (I had no dangersense potions and the pressure plate blended in with the mud blocks and all other traps outside the Lizahrd Temple were virtually harmless to me at this point in the game). I was so angry at this point due to how much time I had lost. What was your worst hardcore death. Double points if it was to an explosives trap..

1: i play softcore to not rip my hair out
2: i tiptoe through caverns
3: explosion traps can go ♥♥♥♥ themselves

Nah they can kill a beefy player loadout.

Except they do five hundred damage and I had around 70 defense (which roughly equates to 35 less damage taken) so I should have been left with one heart. They really should give you a brief hiss sound to give you a chance to grapple out of the way.

creepers confirmed? also if you were playing expert defense is less effective, 3/4s rather than half.

1st I was playing Normal. 2nd Defence is actually more effective in Expert mode (3/4 less damage taken versus 1/2 for normal mode. Life Regen is the one that is less effective.

Wow. You're so cool. I wish I were as cool as you are. You play an indie 2-D sidescroller and troll the forums insulting children who just want to have fun bc, omg you're so good and hardcore at this game. Everyone who isn't as good as you should just die, right? All games ever should have permanent death. If you die in any game, just stay dead or else you're a 2 yr old with mental disorders! God, I should just uninstall and ask for a refund since I don't want to play hardcore mode and I don't insult other players for casually playing this children's game.

In early game, dont go caving without dangersense potion. As soon as you have the mechanic and the goblin, make a the grand design so you can see all red wiring all the time.

It doesn't matter where you are you in the progression, if you are playing Expert mode Hardcore, the explosive trap does 1000 damage. You will die from it. It's completely ridiculous.
