A Short Hike
Similar games?
So, i got this game from being a humble monthly subscriber and, what a joy! Being used to only play violent games I really enjoyed this change of pace. Can anybody recommend me similar games of exploration and wholesomeness??? The only requisites are: No combat and no farming. Anything else is fair game.

There are entire genres that aren't predicated on violence, like most puzzle games, narrative/exploration games, adventure games, and some visual novels. What are you looking for more specifically?

The closest game I can think of is Minit, but that game has simple combat. Another nonviolent sandbox I can think of is Grow Home, and potentially its sequel Grow Up, but I haven't really played the latter. There's also Slime Rancher, but there aspects like farming to it and slimes can eat other creatures. Night in the Woods is a great narrative game, with some caveats: There is performative/playful violence, but it's not a core focus of the game; also the soundtrack composer for it was revealed to be abusive and has since died. There's a wealth of games you could play that don't focus on violence, but it's hard to recommend things without knowing more of your taste.

If you own a Playstation 3 or 4 you will enjoy Journey, it's the closest I can think of to A Short Hike and the main focus lies on exploration.

Not exactly the same gameplaywise but a very emotional experience and highly recommended: To the Moon. But be aware that the gameplay is quite tedious so you might want to watch a walkthrough on youtube instead of playing it yourself.

Other games off the beaten path that are worth a look:
The Stillness of the Wind (haven't played this one yet)
Beginner's Guide
Manual Samuel

Well, I have bought this game thinking it gives me the same feeling as Animal Crossing on Nintendo consoles... If you haven't already, maybe try it out? There seems to be not as much exploration as A Short Hike since the map is not that wide in AC, but it certainly has this kinda same wholesome vibe to it

You should try out Celeste, it's also a mountain-climbing platformer, altough a bit tougher since it gets some inspiration from Meat Boy. However it is very wholesome, with some tools to help you out if you have issues !!!

The story itself has some themes like depression and overcoming your personal flaws, but i'll let you discover it (if you play it !). The gameplay is pretty smooth, I've played it on the switch and it was comfy, so maybe on PC it is as well :)

Have you tried Eastshade? New game about painting and exploring a beautiful fantasy landscape. Has a bit of Skyrim vibes but without the fighting.

It's also on PC (via Epic, but that doesn't change the fact that it's available on PC) and mobile devices.

I second Slime Rancher and I'd also like to recommend Everything and Fez. There's also this game on the 3DS called Attack of the Friday Monsters that seems to strike a similar cord. My friend played it and he liked it quite a lot.

Not a fan of slime rancher, but I got Minit on game pass, I'll give it a try! Night in the Woods seems more up my alley, i'll keep an eye on it for sure!.

I love journey and to the moon! Great recommendations for sure. i'll keep an eye on the other ones. Beguinner's guide seems really interesting.

Animal Crossing on Nintendo consoles...
I'd love to, but sadly the only nintendo console i've ever owned is the Switch, and new horizon is still.. beyond the horizon (i'll see myself out)

I think i got on the EGS on one of their giveaways! I can say those themes are... very important to me, so I'll definitely check it out!

Sadly I don't have a 3ds, but I think those games were free on the EGS too, so i'll check them out. Fez seems like it'll get to a point i'm too dumb to pass though :steamfacepalm:

fez world is complicated to navigate. you'll end up going in circles a bit before you find the next way forward... but it is beautiful.

If you get stumped on a puzzle... youtube it rather than walk away from it. due to the confusing nature of the map.

The Touryst on Switch is the closest I can think of to this game. No combat, no farming, no health bars, just explore a bunch of islands as you choose all at your own pace.

Abzu is a good one. Very cool game with awesome lore, but is a little violent. no fighting though. I played it a long time ago but I think you can get blown up.

Haven't played it but Feather looks like it could be similar with the peaceful, just explore not worrying about dying gameplay.
