Sometimes having just the sound of nature like the wind/rain/snow noise and animal sounds in the background is all that it takes to create immersion. At night, foxes, wolf/coyote, crickets, frogs, etc will make the game sounds more dynamic.

Footsteps need to be added too like Asphalt, Gravel, Grass and Water.

yeah. Like in during spring and summer, we should hear crickets/frogs at night and possibly a fox yelping (perhaps randomize it). During the fall and winter, we might hear a wolf or something howling at night. The sounds of the rain in this game is great. It's relaxing. When I was hiding in the bush to stalk some deer, it was raining. It was great. I didn't want to hunt them so I just stood there crouched down.

yep, been asking for months, maybe even over a year now, for sound effects like this to be added but the dev seems to ignore it

I've heard something yelping a night as well as owls hooting . No crickets though , zombies probably eat them like sunflower seeds .

It's crazy how zombies in this game can chase down a rabbit and catch it. I think most of the survivors in our game are super human. One on one, they can take down a zombie. Look at how they dodge and ♥♥♥♥. I suppose survival of the fittest.
