Bugged "Kill Faction Leader" Quest

I ended up killing the leader of a hostile faction to complete the quest for a neutral faction.

The question then "upgraded" to wipe off all faction units.

And once I kill the last faction unit of this hostile faction, the quest "fails".

I know this bug has been there for long, and am surprised it hasn't been fixed yet.

Few items to note -
- I carry the body of the last faction member to the quest giver; the option to conclude doesn't show up.
- I have recruited 16 members in my own faction as well prior to completing this quest.

Yeah this still happens.
Got it just now.

Though I got upgraded to kill everyone when I used the "what your doing is wrong" line.

Do you still have your savegame where this happened btw? I have an idea why it might have happened - the next quest is to pick up the leader's body, which fails if they don't have a leader - but it would be useful to confirm that.

No sadly already hit the road so in a new map.

But I will confirm a separate nearby community buried the leader during the fighting.
There was icons on every other unburied member when they were all wiped out.

My only speculation as to why it's still bugged is because there was a NEW LEADER during all that killing. Killing the leader causes a new VOTE, and that might not complete in a timely manner. A long time ago I saw that it can take days if the community gets interrupted with other tasks.

The logic might be so intertwined with all the killing and not all the conditions being met.
