yes i am making sure im making veggie stew, but even still ive got like 12 skinned rabbits that should end up being used at that point. ive seen in several videos that ive watched how when set to being the chef and then setting them to making any item, theyll do it so long as the items are in the camp, ive seen their characters go to the buildings with the resources and take it out, mine wont even do that, ive tried every possible method to get the recurring cooking to work but everything results in the same outcome of them saying they dont have the ingredients. even when my cook has everything needed to make x amount he still wont unless i set the manual limit for just one time cooking. ive got over 100 of each veggie needed, buckets of water AND a well right next to the camp fire(just a coincidence)
In your case, the missing ingredients could be one of the following :
1. Empty Cooking Pot.
2. Not enough plastic containers (or catering buckets).
Try beginning the process by having enough food items for 1 stew (cabbage + 2 carrots) in the cooks inventory. Ensure you have at least 50 FLoz water and an empty cooking pot. The game might be assuming that if you begin with enough ingredients for 7 stews, the missing bits aren't really the food items, but everything else.
When I set a person to a job: chef, I had to manually do everything.
When I set a person to cook a SPECIFIC dish, they automated.
well being as the pot is on the fire it shouldnt be a problem, and for the setting to be "As much as possible" why would containers matter, unless id run out, which i dont.? he actually grabs the container. i think you are confused on part of my problem, I can make the 7 stews if and only if i do it manually, if i try doing the automated cook as much as possible it gives me zilch, tells me he cant do it and sits there with a thumb up his bum. he will only "automate" what the manual option was set, even goes to the storage to get more containers when he doesnt have more. or are you saying to try setting up the automated process by only having enough to make 1 dish?
You can't have more than 1 person using the same cook pot.
The cook pot could be tied to another person. Maybe try picking up and placing the cook pot again.
Don't set role chef. Role chef makes them keep the cook pot full. They cook something random whenever the pot is empty.
Make sure they have access to wood/charcoal so they can fuel the fire as well as a way to start the fire.
Yes, start with 1 stew worth of ingredients in the cooks inventory, select recurring. Also, since you are manually using cabbage (and that works), I am wondering if it is assuming the missing ingredient is pumpkin, because the cook seems to use a pumpkin before a cabbage.
I tried setting my raw materials to "allow eating" - And now my cooks happily makes things again
Could it be that restricting it to "don't eat" also blocks it from being used in cooking?
