How do you take over a base?
Me and my friend are attacking a base with a metal fence, we can't enter the doors since we're at war, there's only a few enemies left and they're hiding inside, how do we get inside to get them?
Edit: Never mind, we managed to kill them all. Is there a way to official claim the base for our faction?
Edit edit: Another gang moved in and claimed the base before we could.. That's dumb

What I did yesterday was just lure hordes of zombie into the base to thin the numbers of the camp... until you are left with 2-3 npc throw a pipebomb or molotov volare!

I bring a pipe bomb to blow a hole in the fence away from any tower (because I want to eventualy take over the tower). Once inside, I use a molly on the building to force out the enemy, then chase them down.

Before I kill off the last residents, I will pre-plan the attack. Each gate needs to be taken over first to prevent anyone inside the base, after that you should takeover the other structures. Each gate needs 1 wood or wire depending on the type, and one toolbox in-hand to perform the takeover. I will gather those needed supplies and dump them in a nearby grave or across several enemy bodies. This allows me to capture the base quickly before anybody shows up to claim it (refugee or raider).

The process can be done quickly, as long as you don't have to pee ... :P ... Which my character always seems to want to do after killing everyone.

Using the Steam's Search feature would have saved you time and gave you the heads up that you need a "toolbox" and some materials to take over a base. Here's what happened when I searched "taking over a base", I found a thread already posted:

But never mind, I'll use this as a source of info instead of the older thread (which could have been bumped and have added more infos to it).

Necroing to say that's absurdly stupid - "Taking Over" is used to claim ownership over an object - It's not supposed to be used to breach.

If the only way to breach is by using pipe-bombs that need a Kiln to make, then that's kinda dumb but maybe I'm just not understanding the crafting loop properly yet.

A long time ago, breaching was necessary to gain access to the camp before the camp was defeated to remove a stubborn opponent hiding in a building or waiting for any "squirters" (those that fled) to wander back to camp.

In today's version (175), we just need to kill or down everyone to unlock the gate for access, but we still need to defeat everyone, which means assassinating the downed members.

The confusion might be a mixed topic discussion or question, I think.

It's still extremely confusing, if I have to keep firing at a dude from behind a wire fence I'm going to get pretty annoyed lol but I see what you mean.

Easiest way to raid a base is two ways, either get help or do it solo.

If you want help, then wait for some traders to enter the base, then throw a bomb or molotov at the gate while hiding. There is a high chance the traders will be accused then they will start fighting. I had traders kill and entire base for me doing this tactic.

If you want to do it solo, then throw a bomb or molotov to destroy a wall or gate, then enter using that way and start moving them down with guns. This is very straight forward, stay away from their watch towers, as you will be at a disadvantage. If your firearm skill is below 4, then only use Molotovs to kill, as the molotov damage will be based on your construction skill.

When all are dead, proceed to build your own campfire, and take over one of their structures. You do not need to take over walls, just need to have one of your structures in the base.
