If you use rags, it will stop blood loss but won't recover. You'll need bandages.
The rate of healing from bandages depends on the medic skill of the person doing the bandage. A level 5 medic's bandage heals a lot faster than a level 1.

Also note that multiple bleeding wounds requires multiple rags/bandages to stop bleeding/heal. (you can see this on the little display of the current character in the bottom right corner of the UI)

Try save reload, it should heal properly after the reload.

Thats not true though. Rags heal aswell. Thats what i noticed at least. Had no Bandages but rags. Both legs hurt. After quite a lot days they both recovered though. So that is wrong. Maybe it does take way longer but it still works.

Little advice. Dont take clothings of infected to make rags (or at least sterelize them for bandages) since i noticed that if you take clothings of a green strain and craft rags of it and use them, it seems to infect you with green strain as well. Thats what i had.

Believe rags and bandages both heal, rags is slower that's all. Rags do 1 plaster, bandages 2 plaster visual effect.

Yes. I notice rags heals as well, just slow. e.g. the scratches you get from fist cuffs...

Just reciting what the in-game tips stated :)
