Infighting and Low Morale
The game could really use a clear gauge of someone's morale or other mood indications. I've been dealing with low morale since day 6, not much of a big deal. Now 2 weeks later i've had 4 consecutive fights in 1 day resulting in 5 deaths (1 was a tie...). Random gifting has been wasteful and ineffective. Will you consider adding in buildings or other ways in the future that improve morale for my sad bois? Or will this just be a never ending thunderdome by design?(if so a thunderdome would be a great addition to organize the slaughter.)

there are actually a brain scanners item you can get in the game. it lets you clearly see where they are on the 4 spectrums of emotions. you could trade it from person to person and see what people think of them.

make sure they have fresh food, cannibalism makes them snap. you also have to gift based on what they like, they drop hints. not saying thats your problem but most people seem to result to cannibalism.

Brain scanners are EXTREMELY rare though, so chances are this wont be available for people.

OP mentioned that he has tried giving gifts but it hasnt helped him.
Vodka says it increases morale but ive had people drink it to no avail. I cant seem to keep people happy either.

Cannibalism is not an issue for any of my camp. We are fine on food. Stew most days..

My community has a vast amount of stew, curry and meat, enough outhouses and 4 times the accommodation we need. Everything just developed fine from the first little depression resulting into them being "okay" and up but after being witness of raiders and refugees turning through the IS into white strains the morale dropped till "I hate my life" and "I wish I was dead".
If nothing happens we might build morale up once again but we can't take any more and that's quiet hard to avoid.

I didn't really expect low morale to be a playthrough ender. I understand it is a zombie apocalypse, so hearing "I want to die" and "We're doomed" I thought was just common lingo. They rarely drop hints as to what they want and if you have 48 people to worry about, unless the gift they want is tattooed on their forehead I simply won't remember what i gave survivor #24 two weeks ago(in-game) to prevent him from killing a 5 star construction member. Alcohol in my experience only makes things worse as I then have multiple people past out drunk in various locations. Before the death brawls started I had 3 cooks making veggie curry, meat curry, and veggie stew. So I think I was pretty solid with food. That brain scanner sounds handy, I wish however there was just a basic morale bar for each person, plus a short note of what they like as a gift. Just so i can better monitor and manage them since this is such a big deal after early game.

Make sure your people see you killing a some undead and looters/raiders. Their opinion of their safety will raise fairly quickly if they feel you can provide them safety.

You can watch their memory by using F8 and see someone turning is like -90 while killing a few raiders is like~+5.
My dudes are somtimes so stupid they sit in front of a kiln (turned off) freeze to 32°C and don't take water of the barn to drink and then blame me xD
All this results in minus, minus, minus but I rly can't micromanagement everyone when I'm in an area where a white strain town is nearby and nearly 3 communities fought there before resulting in them being turned in white strains too.

i dont think brain scanner able to view morale, because i was once asked this as well, my bois at right top corner but low morale

to cure them i used to store vodka (cheap vodka not wine) when i found at early game, then once able to cook it, i cook about 500 oz just to bring the mood

but remember to use personal building with "closed" only gate, so only you can get and give the npc with low morale, also i dont know this affect or not but having 3 or more kind of food will make your crew happy (just ask them "whats up" n "how are your feeling")

The morale is an incredibly agitating in game feature, considering it's difficult to combat. I have to go between 30-40 odd people every 4-5 days just to motivate them to do their damn jobs. If I could disable the morale feature entirely, I wouldn't hesitate. My defense is untouchable, food stocks are obscene (over 100,000 days), and the living conditions are beyond met in every aspect. About 60% of my playtime is either staring at people sleep or running in circles telling them to get off their asses. It's not even enjoyable at this point.

It's the negative events that are surprisingly overpowered. Oddly enough this also works in player favour, if you sell infected venison to looters, they will fracture very quickly.

Lack of serious pep talk seems to be an issue. Or playing some music over the radio? Something else than vodka.

That and game lacks in community management area. 40 people is hellish challenge, as you cannot assign jobs from central place but have to switch to each and walk around to their work space. Also I think that just drinking vodka from inventory does nothing, so you have to let a person do it on their own, or gift them a bottle.

There is a community tabs, you don't have to cycle to every character

How do you assign specific job to a toon in community tab?

you select a character in the community tab, and then go to the command mode to assign jobs.

...how? I can only assign a job if they have job item on them. Do you care for providing me with a screenshot?

You still need an axe or pickaxe to assign jobs, and then you can go to command mode by pressing ctrl, which is a top down view where you can assign jobs quickly.

So it is still plenty of micromanagement, as you have to manually make toon obtain a job item. You can't just assign the job to them and they will go pick it up from storage or something.
