I agree, it would be great to be able to set what is allowed to eat. It's just sad to see the ai eat away the last sunflower seeds instead of old soggy chips.

I agree some sort of storage threshold menu should be set under community tab; but I fear such mechanic is then applied globally in current code so nothing can be done yet until a total overhaul.

What can be done in your game is go into the Editor and make those seeds less tasty than the chips.

That's why I build a fence and locked gate around chests to store items I don't want them to eat... and only get the things manually with controlled character ready to process/cook them.

I don't have issues with that (yet) but I agree. Getting more influence on what your members should/should not do/eat/use (i.e. no vodka bottles for melting snow) would be rly nice and handy.

1. the people prefer fresh grown food to junk food, they say "ew" everytime they eat it. kinda like you have to force feed them human meat, they wont go for it alone. you can drive them away fro mthe camp if the food is too bad.

2. the idea is that you put food on your character so they can eat it as you play.. if you dont take care of them they go deal with it themselves. i have usually 2 bottles of water and spare food usually pumpkins if nothing is cooked.

just put a stock of food and they wont run off to eat.

This is what I have done to my base to prevent NPCs taking whatever they want in the name of Freedom. Don't forget to set the gate opening policy, or they'll just laugh at you and om-nom-nom all they can eat.

Set the gate Policy:

It's closed for anyone except you or NPCs you control:

To quote and thank SF for the above post #3 for the idea:
