Looter Raid.
I have a radio yet a large raiding party has managed to approach my base unseen.

Do not all Looters show up when you have a radio or is this a bug?

atm, I think "local" raider communities are not shown on radio, only those that wandered in.

I had the same problem, sneak attack on base by red dots without a skull icon on map.

EDIT: typo. meant "not shown" and not "now shown"

Yep, just that.

No way of dealing with them either.

I just had a Looter gang sneak up on one of my bases too along the river. Didn't see them at all until I opened my gates, then immediately closed them. Seems that by Day 30, the Looter gangs approach up to 20 members. good gear on them too.

Counts for most enemies that just by coincidence wander into your camp. Its how it works in this game.

I got 7-8 guys in armour with guns and bows and moli's attacking in the middle of a stormy night.

My guys of which there are 6 have no armour, no guns, 1 bow between them and wooden buildings.

Pretty much game over lol.

I'm glad I gathered lots of bows, arrows, helms and armor before I even start recruiting...
I usually opt to engage them from ambush instead of waiting for them to come to my (wooden) base. As a "backup plan", I built my base next to a friendly NPC settlement. They have lots of guns and bows.

Winter is sort of safer too. The raiders came to the map, and decided to hide in abandoned cars on the road to hide from the cold. They have not budged from there for days. My immediate danger are those neighbors I mentioned that came en masse to my base and try to trick my people into selling them our food. so much so I had to lockdown the gates, until planting seasons starts at least. Only my controlled character goes out, alone. To hunt rabbits to feed the rest of the base...

My base is in range of 2 friendly bases but they didnt help at all, even after I have fed them, healed them and defended their camps. Ungrateful bastards lol.

Using a save from a few minutes before I tried luring them away with the one character that has a bow but to no avail.

Eventually she gets winged and bleeds out or they split up and torch my base.

I have looted everything I could find, even half a town full of white strain and not found anything weapon wise other than a single bow and a machete. The RNG has been merciless this run.

I was going to make more bows but the rest of my guys have zero stars in archery so figured why bother.

Every threat that I saw coming was easily dealt with with ambushes etc, this attack is just too big with what I have.

Tried "encouraging" the raiders to change course for the NPC bases? i.e. let them see you, then run straight into the NPC gate. It usually works for me. You can come out later to pick up the "spare" ammo and raider loot.

They literally followed me inside one of them while the residents stood and watched me get shot to pieces.

They will not engage them.

wait. are the raiders from offmap and not local community? and are you neighbors looters/raiders? I thought that invading raiders/looters should be hostile to normal "friendly" communities.
Darkside99x Jun 9, 2020 @ 7:23am
Neighbours are not looters/raiders, unmarked bad men show up to pillage.

sf Jun 9, 2020 @ 7:25am
strange, as if nothing is bugged, it means that the raiders are neutral/friendly to your neighbors... which is why they can open the gates?
Acerbic Jun 9, 2020 @ 8:15am
You might be bugged, dude?.I'm on day 32 and still solo, living next to a friendly community. Every single time I get raided, I pull the raiders/looters/zombies (if there are too many for me) over to them and they wipe em out. They've never refused to help me.
Darkside99x Jun 9, 2020 @ 8:19am
Good to know, might try coaxing then to a different camp and try my luck there lol.
GrundleLobster Jun 9, 2020 @ 10:35am
I have had that exact same experience with "friendly" camps letting in raiders to gun me down. You can only count on them for a little zombie protection. I guess they only see them as a threat when they are specifically targeted.
