Cooking needs a lit fire, and a Cooking Pot. Get a piece of wood in your inventory and select it, that will give you the option to build a campfire (this is also how you add more wood to an existing camp fire). Light the campfire with matches or a Hunting Knife + Flint. With the Cooking Pot in your inventory target the fire and there'll be a list of things you can make and their ingredients. You can roast a rabbit without a Cooking Pot, but pretty much everything else needs the pot.
What you can build or cook is limited to your skill level. So at say zero stars Construction you can only build walls and a storage chest, you need to level to one star before you can build a house.
havent been so lost as a survival game fan for years man
Plan B = bow, pour your points into it, great for stealth kills, can get more by becoming "non-hostile" with a faction base and dragging zombies into them, they fire their arrows at the zombies = you get free arrows.
Try to put at least 1 star in farming at the begining (more stars=more yield) don't even bother at trying to hunt rabbits, you can't, until you reach stealth 4 or 5 and archery 4 or 5, or until you have a carrot farm. Only after 20 days i was able to do a proper farm so it takes time.
I have stealth 4 and archery 4 with the help of books and even with those two stats almost maxed, is incredibly hard to hunt rabbits with the bow... they are the true enemy in this game.
Rabbits needs a nerf in my opinion or bows a buff to range, if they don't see you they will smell you everytime, they have the awareness stat over 9000!
Rabbits are very tricky, but once I have maxed archery (via books, 3 of them), the point-blank range becomes a lot more bearable. Sometimes non-point-blank range will work too, though RNG's will.
But after I got carrots up and farming, perhaps the trap is an easier long term solution. Just a little inefficient to assign a trapper when there is only 1 trap...
u just have to to be stealthy
use C key
hide behind bushes rocks and co
and dont attack with the wind(the is a wind arrow on the map)
rabbits smell if u attack with the wind and run
and the same for seeing u in open fields
but hunting rabbits is the easiest part here
u need a fireplace(axe knife and flint or matches)
and then a knife to get rabbit meat
and then cooking lvl 2
i lived off rabbitmeat in the game till i couldnt find rabbits anymore :(
and my farm wasnt running yet
and surviving isnt about fighting every zombie u see
its avoiding them as much as possible and lure them to a friedly camp(good for arrows by the way and jesus saves/money)
scavenge them from town or get an axe then assign someone to lumberjack
take an axe in the hand and chop a tree 2 times(the first time only the tree fall)
take the wood and use it to build a fireplace
and use a knife(+flint) to make a fire
use the rabbit(if u have a knife) to skin it
shovels for digging a well or a grave
and toolbox for building buildings
u just need to know what tool u need to have in the hand to do what
and try to get a tent(for sleeping)
AND!!!
get a watering can(they are rare in my opinion and u need it probably for farming and drinking :) )
The only confirmed unlimited resources are prob water (by extension crops), gold and cloth? Wood seems to be abundant enough that even if it is limited, the limit is probably very high. I am trying to figure out which resource I can "waste" by trying out things. Is it even feasible in later game to arm your community with guns? given the horrible difference between rate of acquiring ammo and rate of spending them.
I think is a lack of info on the availability and sustainability of resources.
these stones are everywhere
and running out of trees is an accomplishment worth mentioning
2 stone, flint, iron and lead can all be infinitly gathered from the mine(lvl 5 construction), however you need a geological survey to know what your gonna get when you play your mine. that by extrension make cement, chicken wire, katana's and all amunition unlimited
