Good corpse disposal system?
So uh zombie and looter corpses are starting to pile up outside my base and i really don't want to build 10,000 graves by the time i'm done playing plus molotovs don't seem to do the trick (thought a corpse fire would do it) anyone figure out what to do with them all?

Zombie and Raider (the groups that spawn and attack your base) corpses will disappear after a while.

Looter or Survivor (the people from the walled communities) won't disappear and will either need to be buried or dumped somewhere out of the way. Generally these people will bury their own dead, but sometimes they just leave them too.

I am encountering the same problem. Does burying them gets rid of them permanently? or creates "grave" object? if latter, can the grave be "demolished" leaving nothing behind??

Or is there an atom smasher somewhere in this game..... hey, that's interesting... maybe we need moats and drawbridges, and can re-purpose the latter for other usage...

Yes, you can demolish graves and there will be no body afterwards.
sf Jun 7, 2020 @ 7:55am
but it costs 1 wood per body to be disposed... I think I'll just have to dump them together some distance away and wait for more surplus wood and somebody I need to train construction (?) up with to do the chore...

that's what I've been doing, as I just finished two wars with two factions. ONe was quite large, the other, a Looter faction was larger than I thought. Had dozens of dead bodies outside my bases, so I started picking them up and dumping them near the roads, near towns, near hordes. POOF! No more bodies.

re:river, does that REALLY get rid of the corpse or is it just hidden by the water graphics?

re:horde/infested. Does it really work? Any further details on how to achieve that?

Just a dream atm. Have enough manpower to have a large surplus of wood and pre-dig graves outside the base. Then when invaders are killed, they can be conveniently buried and demolished. And have fresh graves dug again when people are free, or need to train construction.

its really easy to see where the hord will hit your base with the radio. BUT make sure to loot the body for item you want for once the zombie eat the corps the items will be gone too

lol... There was a red horde coming close to my base... I was locking down the gates and putting people into guard towers.... but the attack never came... it seems to have stopped some distance away, which is when I realised THAT was the place I was dumping all the dead looters/raiders.... I got a character and sneaked out to take a peek.... They were feasting....

Maybe a "dead body delay barrier" will be good in the future.

Yup. It's the equivalent of a wall, but for zombies.

If you skin each corpse and throw the meat around, that'll increase the barrier a little. You could also dig pitfall traps near clusters of meat.

Will this "auto-corpse disposal system" work...

Create a fenced area divided into 2 compartments with an interior gate in between, and one exterior gate for each compartment. Set all gates to manually closed.

Open one exterior gate, lure in an infected. Close the gates to trap it in one compartment.
Put corpses you want to dispose of in the other compartment, get out and lock the other gate. Then open the interior gate. When the infected entered the compartment with the corpses, lock the interior gate again and open the exterior gate to the empty compartment to allow more corpses to be stored while the other side is being "processed". Rinse and repeat..

Predicted problems are:
1. raiders. The fence/gates may need to be metal/concrete.
2. Ranged community members/NPC may kill the "refuse processing worker" through chicken wire fence/gate. Fence can be concrete, but the only fireproof gate is the wire gate atm. Interior gate can prob be wood though.

How to prevent the "worker" from being accidentally shot through the exterior gate? The only current not-too-elegant idea I have is to create an airlock with an interior gate that is not visible from the outside the exterior gate, or use the wooden gate as interior gate (can this gate be damaged by molotov cocktail?)

I am trying to build up some chicken fence and concrete for base reinforcement (decided my "temporary base" is going permanent, as I could not really find a better spot). After that, I may be able to try this, some distance away, so that the "worker" will not cause base to always undergo alert... (or does distance matters not if the infected is near your fence far far away from your people?)

An idea so crazy, it just might work!

Infected do not despawn bodies, they feed, take all available meat, and move on.
