Fable III Availability on Steam

Hello,

As many of you will already know, in August 2013 the Games For Windows Live Marketplace was closed[support.xbox.com]. This shut down means that product keys for Fable 3 and its associated DLC are no longer being created, and therefore the game and its DLC cannot be purchased from GFWL or Steam. Of course, if you have already purchased the game you’ll still be able to download and play it.

It’s worth noting that those with DLC codes still waiting to be redeemed should redeem them in-game, and not via the xbox.com website (for more info see this thread). This is because we’ve found an issue relating to DLC keys that are redeemed via the xbox.com website which will result in the key becoming unusable. We’re looking into this issue currently and hope to have it fixed soon.

In the meantime though, if you have tried to redeem your code via Xbox.com and have encountered this problem, please get in touch with Xbox Customer Service[support.xbox.com], as they will be able to assist you further.

The multiplayer service of GFWL was shut down years ago, so probably not.

GFWL was never shut down, just no longer supported and left with many bugs unfixed.

you can still play online i am doing it alot and almost got all weapons only need the sandgoose and than i got all 50

i have windows 10 with xbox app (comes with windoes 10) link fable 3 to xbox app and you can play it

Hmm, turns out Microsoft only shut down the Marketplace for it. I was sure they shut down the Multiplayer component of GFWL as well. Probably because a few games saw their multiplayer moved to Steamworks around that same time.

Just putting it out there if anyone still looking to get Fable 3 Amazon current has some keys available which cost $19.99. Although, some are saying even with the keys it doesn’t work they are incorrect as there is a method of getting the game to work. Following this method worked for me and I was able to fully play the game. https://steamcommunity.com/app/105400/discussions/0/1737715419891757765/. I know there are still many who enjoy the fable series so here is chance to play in my opinion a pretty good fable game.

I found this game available on Amazon from Microsoft as a Steam activation code. I purchased it and activated it. It now appears in my Steam Library, but when I launch it, all I get is a black screen with a fancy cursor.

GfWL is still working.
I don't get it why they blocked it from purchase.

Because they no longer support the original GFWL. They use Xbox Live now I think.

I had this game a long time ago and had long since lost it. Saw it on amazon and purchased a steam key for it and it works fine. Still have to use a windows live account with it, but I installed it today and am using it.

Uhhh It may be because I already have it but Fable Anniversary is on Steam. Try searching the store. But no Fable 2 as far as I know was kept exclusive to Xbox 360 by Lionheart studios.

Try running the game from it's main folder. Find where the game is installed then, right click the game .exe and "run as administrator". See if it launches.
