First of all, great game.
I got to the ending and I solved every puzzle I see in the most obvious way. But of course there are many secret areas, and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get to them.
For example, the inner island in the 1st set of islands troubled me a lot. I read other discussions and knew it requires further knowledge of the game's mechanics, but it still looks impossible to me even though I have 4/140/495 now.
So I want some tips on how to get the secrets in this game. It would be better if the tips are just enough to get me into a better mindset, but everything is welcomed nonetheless. Your help will be appreciated.

Another hour spent and I'm at 11/142/538, and it's only getting trickier.

The resources in the tutorial islands are quite limited, so I managed to find one secret using two of these early islands, not the inner island though.

And no, I still don't know anything about the rest of the secrets. I... really don't think I can do it without help. I'll just wait for a guide then, like what I said earlier.

When looking for secrets, I don't like to figure out where to even begin either. But just getting told the full solution is also neither fun nor satisfying.

For the inner island of the tutorial area, I can tell you the starting island though, if you like to have a hint:
The start is on the bottom right island with the two trees.

I mean, I don't like being told the full step-to-step solution either, that's why I'm asking for tips, not the solution. But I also know that it can be hard to give someone tips while spoiling as little as possible, so I won't get mad if someone just post a detailed solution here.

I'm currently trying to solve every single-island puzzles in the game, because they're fun and actually achievable for me. I don't think I can find all the snowmen given the difficulty I already had, and I don't think I can rely on this discussion thread forever either.

It's great to have someone like you to help. If you can provide a hint like this for the area west to the post in the south-west corner of the map, I can't be more grateful. Thank you again.

That one was quite tricky. For a hint I can give you the goal:
You need to build a bridge from the most western island (117, 29).

You're welcome! I can also give you a hint for the islands south of the scented candle:
You can reach the island with the candle without a raft.

Yes! Thank you! I was just going to ask you about that. Now I finally get that juicy achievement, woohoo!

I'm surprised at how your hints worked perfectly for me. It didn't spoil any movements, just mentioned a place to look at or a thing to do, and that's exactly what I needed.

However the snowmen are still too much for me. If I ask everything here it will be a lot of work for both of us. So I think I'm done with the game for now.

where are you guys getting these numbers from? - I've just finished the main run and off to explore the rest, but I can't see any secret progress meter or anything to let me know how I'm doing? Playing on PC.

Also after finding another secret by myself this morning (in my timezone), I decide to check those relatively large foggy areas before I put this game down, because those will most likely contain some juicy single-island puzzles that I like the most. 2.next to the 1st set of islands, to the east
3.south-west corner of the map, west to the post
4.east to the roller-coaster, south to Scented Candle

I hate to bother you but I just find myself overwhelmed by these seemingly impossible situations. Your help before worked perfectly for me. You pointed me in the right direction and didn't spoil anything except a place to look at, I really appreciate that. I can't be more thankful if you could help me one last time.

I have 9/142/535 right now. If you don't mind, you can share your progress too. Also you said you don't know the exact amount of everything, but what about just exhibits? Did you get the Data Miner achievement? Is it impossible if I ignore the small secrets? Please, I have to know how close I'm to that achievement.

If you got the number 1 from your list here: large area west from the first island set can I ask for a hint? :)

That one is actually pretty simple. Just take a closer look at the second island of the game (with the museum on it).

Requesting hints for at least these two yet:

1. On the 'constellation' with the Orrery (solar system machine) and Zoetrope (gif machine) the large area west from the south-eastern post. My best bet is that the first log can be left in a position where a bridge could be made arriving from north; however you'd have to teleport away and make a new bridge. Seems impossible. (178, 30)
2. In the mushroom area: islands west from Unidentified Knitted Object (mannequin). Here I have gotten close in many ways trying to make a size 2 bridge but can't progress. (373, 113)
^ EDIT: I'm fairly certain I see where this (2.) starts now. Not sure how I missed that.

I can also give hints to anyone, I have a great majority of locations. Damn though there are some really hard ones in this game (which I love).

1. That one took me a bit to figure out, but felt really stupid afterwards because it wasn't very complex at all. It is possible to get a log from one island to the other. No teleportation or reset shenanigans necessary here.

2. The rocks on the mailbox island (368,98) look suspicious to me, don't you think?

I'm currently at 42 friends/snowman, but one I'm relly struggeling with is the snowman standing in plain sight at (213,57). Do you happen to know how to get there and can give me hint?

I thought I'd be able to get 2. after I now know the exact start point, however there's a really nasty trap: when making raft, I can either put northern log vertically, which makes southern log roll too far, or I can put northern log horizontally, which doesn't make a bridge and I don't know how else to get to southern island (354, 98). Sorry if complicated explanation.. Might you have a tip for that?

I checked (213, 57), I don't have that either sorry. I just get these ideas: There's a lot of wood on islands below, maybe some logs can get to south of the snowman? Or, rock between the above two islands looks a bit suspish, but this would require a vertical long raft which looks very improbable..

Have you tried reseting one of the islands not only at the start? I can't say much more or else it becomes trivial.

I also don't think a raft from the top is possible. I've tried already a lot of different things: Getting a log from one island to another or building a raft, but how do I push myself off then? I even tried to build a raft on land but without success. I'm pretty sure that the island to the south is the key to the solution.
