Start ufo et 1 gold and go to bmans mod menu.
Bmans mod gave you the ability to modify difficulty of the game, unit prices and upkeeps. I personally like it more when units are actually out of combat or even die (much longer wounding times and hiring costs, must harder to equip all soldiers with best stuff). One could make the game difficulty and gameplay the way one wanted! Harder or easier, or both but in different department!. In my opinion the most important things in that menu were soldier wounds,money,AP,XP and manufacturing costs. Only thing in there that I could really say I did not use was the extra graphics settings, but would like to see all the rest.

Greatly dislike how everything goes by hype and pre orders, instead of product quality and satisfaction...
I dont think anyone wants this game to fail, but forcing something bad aside is not really optimal, or just being silent and repeating the same mistakes. Hopefully something amazing happens in dlc, or atleast things wont go all south for the devs, always nice to have a game you actually put hours to
The best example is the RTS-UFO-After-Row which is a complete miscast in RTS.
There are more examples which don´t fit in RTS or BTS-Part.
That makes the X-Com-Rows (old and new), the UFO-ET-Row, Xenonauts-Row and Phoenix Point unique, because they use both Elements.
Btw. Skalisko, you mentiond that the Rework on UFO1ET to Platinium-Edition have begunn. Can you give there any Infos about it, what exactly get Refited, not only 64 Bit-Compatibility.

My complaints are more like questions if this is it as I don't know if 200 hours in maybe there is a trigger for something else etc....it is just getting repetitive doing the same thing over and over and expecting something new and it never does

I just don't get why they stripped ufo2 compared to the first one and if you think a complaint on steam, not a review, but a forum post is going to sink sales you must know yourself that the game is not up to standard of the first.....
After the old UFO Xcom games I rank UFO Extraterrestrial on top, the Firaxis Games does not even rank in the top 5 clones according to me, but the FIRST UFO Extraterrestrial was brilliant and the reason i just alt tab to write this and then go back to play that instead of UFO2
btw maybe UFO Extraterrestrial GOLD is an expanded version? Maybe UFO 1 was as bare as UFO2 at first?? I don't remember that.
UFO2ET have not all Gameparts implementet yet, that´s true. This will come with DLCs, after they are done.
To answer your Question Belnick, yes UFO ET GOLD is an fully playable expanded Version from the Base Game, but with many Bugs of the Original left. There the UNI-Mod fixes many of them.

Add extra EXP for participating on a mission, levelling up rookiees is dangerous on late game.
Rebalance of exp awarded for hitting aliens, getting 1 per hit and 5 for kill works at most till early era 3, after that it becomes a slog, i'm actually sparing the commanders to farm mad exp off their impenetrable asses (if you're using AK1's)
A shuffle on the research tree is welcome, I am in a similar position to OP, but i am SLOWLY researching sludge armor, because i have yet to meet a "ice creep", and half my squad is decked on tundra (the other half remains on Hellfire in case i run into Era 3 gehennae and spitfires) If more weapons and ammo are going to be DLC material (i get the monetary need, but seriously, vanilla feels barebones at times), add some variety on damage types and dont wait till next eras to do so. One good example is adding a Pyro rifle to be gained from Spitfires (sans the AOE), and a Cryo rifle that can be looted off Bonesetter commanders (or derivative tech) tied to one of the commander researches.
Another rebalance on the armor of BOTH CAF and Aliens would be nice, my firefights lasts way more than they should when a bonesetter tanks 15 shots in a single turn, takes his turn, but cant hurt my guys either because the armor ratings are too high (even on beginner armor, only thing that can hurt it is if a treps get close, or FOCUSED fire)
Air game needs a rebalance on the sense that it takes till era 4 to unlock the SECOND missle type,
the starting tank is awesome, but becomes obsolete very quickly due to it occupying 50% of the starter craft capacity, and altough its an excellent scouting platform damage soaker, limited ammo really cramps its style, Allow it to mount an early version of Heavy beamer gun as a side-grade and its longevity would be expanded greatly (as would the combat feel less sloggy with how tank everything is)
Aircraft carriers are awesome, loved the idea.
The Alien cannons on Ships? also awesome, on the base? Not at all.
Well, you may want to promote UFO1ET then. Just leaving a word on some forum that the UFO1 is a spiritual successor to the UFO:Enemy Unknown worth playing will help us once UFO1ET Platinum is completed.
UFO2 has weapons as follows: Mortar with 2 different mortar bombs, Rocket Launcher with some 4 different rocket types such as Explosive, Incendiery, Freezing, Cryo.., AK rifle with +3 different magazines, Photon Beamer with 2 different magazines, Pozitronic Beamer. For the lenght of the game, there should have been more weapons. Moagrim has noticed it quite preciselly. "at least Mid tier weapon is missing". To finish the UFO2 DLC development we need at least to reach break even point for UFO2ET.
To help reach the break even point we decided to make UFO1ET Platinum with some refurbishings. UFO1ET Platinum will kill two birds with one stone because one can not buy UFO1 Gold since end of the June 2021. Perhaps this two incomes will help us reach the break even point so that we could work on the DLC for UFO2 ET which features Manta dropship, Skylon interceptor, 5 alien assault class vessels, some 5 new alien races, a new level perhaps Moon base, many personal weapons such as Chaos Cannon, Mephisto Launcher, Fussion Beamer, Eagle HWP for secure reconnainsance, unique items and perhaps some customizations we know from Bman's mode and perhaps some features that will be implemented in UFO1Platuinum such as alien ability of Mind Control and moreover unlike the Platinum version, some device with limited ability to control some less intelligent alien races or alien drones. Mentioning UFO2ET on other forums or uploading a gameplay on the Youtube may help us to reach potentional buyers.
The UFO1 was like a trunk, branches and leaves. It is the most difficult and demanding part of the development to finish the game. After 7 years of the garage development there was an exhaustion but finally it was released. Then came skillfull modders such as Bman, Grey fiend, Ishantil.. and many others. They were fresh and they hung candles on that tree such as swarms, battle armors, unique items, profound customizations and made the UFO1 shining like a gold.
Yes the work on it has started. The graphic atrtist converted the Tank Cannon to the Tank Laser Cannon and the Tank rocket launcher to the Tank Mortar and we are thinking over an appropriate explosions. It strucked me that the Tank Mortar could do both - friring mortar bombs via balistic trajectory and launch rockets directly depending of the ammo loaded.
The player could choose himself.. We have a new alien - the Greyone to animate. I think he should wear some armors lately, because of plethora of the powerful CAF personal weapons.
Regarding the compatibility... the UFO1ET Gold works on 64 bit perfectly.
Only with Tricks UFO 1 ET Standard and Gold can be started on 64 Bit Systems. If you don´t go out in Steam like I do it with UFO 2 ET now to write this Statement, then it works perfect. Otherwise UFO 1 ET hangs then completely with both older Versions.
To make Promotoins for UFO 2 ET there are some Gamers which doing Youtoube and Twitch Vids for it. If I remember correctly there is one player fully through and reached Esperanza.
I too make an AAR for both Games in German. But for UFO 1 ET I wait for the Platinum Edition about the new Features which get in now.
The bmans mod would have allowed you to customize these things the way you wanted ^^
The new Programmcode from UFO 2 ET give much better Opertunitiys for Programming and Modding as well as a much better Playability in R & D etc.
Would you share the UFO1ET Platinum gameplay on the Youtube once it has been finished? With the commentary in German the result would be great.
Producing Vids and such is not my strengh. But I know someone which have the knowledge of Vid-Producing. If I can get him activated, then he can make an fully Gameplay of the Platinum-Version with Speech. I can ask him.
