Really good motion sickness generator
There is a short L-shaped corridor near the end of the game when everything is black and white, and there's a sort of animated blurry chessboard pattern on the walls. I'm moderately sensitive to motion sickness, and that bit, short as it was, not only made me go green around the gills, I still felt queasy a good half-hour later. This is the strongest motion sickness effect I've ever had in the shortest amount of time, even compared to VR games (which I also don't get on with.) And the effect took unusually long to wear off.

I'm sure the game designers' intent was weirdness not nausea, so I'd suggest changing that animation (get rid of the blurriness and use a rotating tile animation instead, perhaps.), but it's /really/ effective at provoking nausea. Is it just me? There are people studying motion sickness - that might actually be useful to them as an example of a really good trigger.

I suspect the corridor is already short because there were past complaints, and if I'm honest even 1x3 tiles would have been enough for me.

Is there anyone else who was strongly affected by that bit? I'd like to know I'm not alone

Sorry i know this is nearly a year old post lol

While I didn't feel sick on this part it did make me feel a bit sicky and i don't normally get 'sicky' with that type of things when it comes to Video games.

I DO struggle with motion sickness/Simulation sickness in games though. (Especially if it falls below 45-50fps.) However it's normally due to lag/input lag. Such a small amount and boom im running to the toilet to heave. Its one reason ive never tried V.R (but would love to).

But im sure you're not alone on that part anyway.

I haven't reached that specific part yet, but I am getting a bit of general motion sickness while playing this game for some reason. I haven't quite worked out why, usually I'm fairly ok with first person stuff but something about this game is causing me issues.

If I manage to power through it long enough to reach the section mentioned I'll update.

EDIT - I finished the game, including the part in question, and while it certainly wasn't a pleasant experience with regards to motion sickness, I didn't have as visceral a reaction as the OP did, but it's also possible something has changed since this topic was made. I never really figured out what was causing motion sickness in me, but the game was short and compelling enough for me to push through in a couple of short sessions. I doubt I'll be going back for the achievements though, all things considered.

I'm having motion sickness too. I think the reason is the turning is too fast.

Is there a way to slow the turn rate of the camera?

You're not alone.
I do the following when dealing with motion-sickness games.
1. Do not play fullscreen. By making it smaller, the eyes are better able to distinguish what's going on.
2. Sit further away from the screen.
3. Decrease sensitivity.
4. Shorter play sessions with breaks.

yes. go to options > gameplay settings and there will be a slider for "look sensitivity"
