i'll break it down for you.
for every enemy in the game, they have all their idle sprites, sprites for all their attacks, and sprotes for their hands/ feet.
in additon to this, they also have animaitons for the various attacks that can be done to them, such as kunio's powerbomb, any char's human weapon attack, etc.
to give you an idea of how many exist, this is the base sheet for JUSt schoolgirl ( 1 )
https://ibb.co/8bQKC2B

to clear up what I meant in the last part of prev comment, the textures arent compressed, the game pulls from a giant sheet ( i linked here ) and then colors them as needed with the various palettes ( purp, green, nightmare, etc )
but for osses, since they dont need to swap colors, they exist as a single compressedSprite atlas for all - bc they only use that one set of sprites in any part of the game. Where as an enemy appears everywhere, so they load up uncompressed sheets ( sprite atlas ) and then compressed images that are extremely tiny, with low fideltiy, and look terrible when blown up. )

Ok! I think I still don't understand fully, but I have an idea at least of what you mean.
I've seen that schoolgirl both as that sheet (what was contained in the dump that was given to me by the tsr person) but I've also seen individual frames when browsing the unity files.
Even though, as I said, individual frames would be easier for me to import as animations into my project, if you give me a sheet like that, but as the purple girl, that's also fine. It'd be extra work for me to separate the individual frames, but I'd be ok with that. If giving them to me that way improves the quality of the sprites when upsized (I think that's what you're saying, but still not 100%), that might also be for the better. my project will need to upsize them, I think, although only by a little bit.
the big sheet is pretty useless for animation, but if you plan to use that stuff for like MUGEN - it might be better just for the sake of simplicity on my behlaf, and then you can just clip out the sections you need for character frames. I'm just gonna swap all the colors ont he big sheet using the palette at the bottom of the unity list ( just search schoolgirl, you'll find it near the end )
that's proably the easiest way to do it.
so grab school girl defualt palete, and then the purple girl color swap bada bing - bada boom

My plans are to use it for a fan project made in Construct 2, actually.
First step to importing the animations is separating all the frames in a way that makes it so I can import them all into the program and have them animate properly.
So, although if you gave me individual frames, that'd save me a huge extra step, fact is that if you don't it's totally fine, because I have literally put back together the frames of animations out of jumbled spritesheets extracted from unity or game maker studio games plenty of times before.
In all honesty, the only thing I truly don't know how to do and need help with, is how to use or apply the recolor/palette thing. So yeah, if you can apply that palette to that entire sheet and then send it to me, that'd be just fine and totally awesome!
As long as this makes it into the same character that it is in the game itself (Ichika). :)
if you have a photshop ( or even a free tool, like Chasys Draw IES )
1. prepare the following items : Base sheet of all sprites / the palette sprites in the files for base, and the one you want, and then you -
2. place base as main project file, add the two palette sprites as layers
3. you color replace by cliking a tool, identifying a first color, and then you'll select the palette sprite part you want - so default school girl - brown part of hair , click there for color 1 - then eyedropper the color from the palette sprite that matches it
-replace

Thank you I will try it, this is completely new territory for me though! :)
you can do it ! :) I'm glad we could hijack this thread of people complaining to do some game talk instead. good stuff.
:rainbowpuss:
I hijacked it before it was cool. -3-

I think I've got it, up through step 2 so far: http://biancagames.com/colors123.png
But I have another question. you said I "color replace by clicking a tool".
I'm not sure though which tool I'm supposed to click on here though, before then proceeding to choose the "first color".
I'm pretty sure I understand the rest of step 3 that you described after that, I think I just need to know which tool to click because it looks like you didn't specify. Is there one in there literally called "color replace" or something like that? I can't seem to find it. :)
what program are ya usin?

Chasys Draw IES, the one you just named :)
okay, so what you want to do is eyedropper color 1 on your pallete to the color on defualt girl that you want to replace. set color two ( again, with eyedropper ) to either grab the color form that palete strip ( or ) just grab a screenie of the girl, and do it that way.
when color 1 is default sprite's color, and color 2 is your desired color - go the ase sprite sheet, right click - effects - color- replace color
you might want to experiment with the sensitivty slider, and do the coloring in a way where you aren't replacing other stuff by accident.
mainly, just the outfit and the hair color is what you need, so start with the extreme darker and bright colors - instead of starting with the fair skin color, or the fringe on their uniforms

ok, that helps a bit.
I think I had been getting there.
but the issue seemed to be that, I started with hair color but even with the sensitivity slider at 0, fact is, original hair color is a light color that is close to skin color, while desired hair color is dark purple. So it appeared it was trying to give her purple skin and stuff, and because of this, I wasn't sure if I was even doing the right thing or not. Since you've now indicated I was using the correct feature, at least, I'm now gonna have to find a way around this!

Either that, or I'm gonna have to find another way to do it.
Although it's true I'm not doing this for Mugen, I wouldn't be opposed to using a program like Fighter Factory to somehow make the image I want and export it. Still a lot of figuring out to do there though. But it seems to have a lot of different options for palettes and stuff, so maybe there'd be something of use there?

I guess the process isn't quite as simple as I originally thought?
yeah :/ photoshop is highly accurate in doing this, you can get all the adobe premire suite stuff for free 30 days ( unless you've already used one )
So we went from idiot trump-humping troll to dodgeball and somethingi in photoshop?

And people wonder why I have difficulty following threads.

Spy rabbits again, probably. :o

Photoshop results so far.
Only did hair as of now (3 colors/shades of pruple changed). I think it looks good, but, I also got a few random purple pixels on her legs and hands... :(
edit: also one leg looks sunburned, the other doesn't

Like, I wonder how Unity or the game does it in-game?
is there no simpler way to apply it in a way that replicates that, without having to do every single color bit by bit? Or perhaps Unity's programming is clever enough that it actually is programmed to do it all bit by bit, but still happens fast enough to appear instantly while playing?
the way unity does it, you have a text sheet that tells the game what sprites to pull for animations, and it starts the lines with the color coding. There's those palette sprites - the game culls the colors from that, and just re-creates them on the fly. it's actually a pretty elegant solution to having multiple reskins

Ok, but do you know why all of weegie’s posts got deleted though?
I couldn't tell you who weegie even is. perhaps they deleted their own posts, idk
