Walking/running speed
I had some annoying issue with movement. The character runs when I move in reverse, but when moving forwards, sometimes he will run while other times he will just walk. Most of the obstacles requires running, so when I get walking instead, I fail to cross the obstacles. This leads to many deaths in even simple obstacle courses. The character seems more willing to run if I press the analogue stick at the same time, but it doesn't work well either, and is uncomfortable. X-box 360 compatible game pad used (Logitech F710).

I would suggest either just make the character always run, or alternatively use the analogue input as actual analogue input so that the player can decide. It doesn't work well as is.

Have you tried double jumping? Had that issue at times and the solution was always (other than restarting game/level) to doublejump.

I started the game again, and running forwards seems to work now, but only straight forward. With a little bit of diagonal input, you end up with walking speed.

Try to use "Restore to default settings" option. Maybe this will help.

Or try to activate steam input for xbox controller. You can find it in Steam > settings >controller>general controller settings>xbox configuration support.

Bear in mind that this is literally a game from the 2000s that was just rereleased, not a 2019 port of a 2004 game. It probably has rudimentary Xinput support but works properly with Dinput controllers.

OK i fixed it, go to the settings >controller>general controller settings, now click on the name of your controller and calibrate it.

Enabling the xbox controller option in the Steam client seemed to do the trick!

(I tried to switch the controller to D-input mode, but the problem was still there)

It's basically the range of your deadzone. If you are putting your stick too far out, that's a run. If it's closer to the center, it's a walk.
