Losing upgrades on death mechanics?
I've been watching a streamer play this and noticed that the upgrades with ranks in the shop seem to disappear on death. Is this a thing? Seems like every time you More Drops, Chance to get Green orbs (Forgot their names) or buy Death Wish and such, they vanish upon death and become pricier next time you buy them?

Upgrades do not disappear at all, they are persistent. Nothing normally is lost when you die, the only thing that you have to buy again when you die is "Inner Fire". This grants you a damage bonus each time you buy it, and you buy the next tier when you die, slightly increasing it. I've never bought more than 2 or 3, so I don't know what the apparent "consequence" is. There is one other thing lost when you die (only if you had it in the first place), but you can easily get it back next life, and that is The orb multipliers that you get from destroying certain special statues. Those are all easily accessible to reacquire next life, because they are right next to elevators.

Inner Fire and Death Wish both disappear on death, and you can buy only one rank per death. I do not believe the get stronger as you buy the higher ranks. I bought up to Inner Fire 6, and it was still doing the same damage as Inner Fire 1. I believe the "consequence" is just that each tier costs more orbs without an increase in strength.

There are two other things you lose on death: The orb multiplier and the hidden Gil familiar. You can get the orb multiplier back, but you cannot get the Gil familiar again.

Wait is the hidden "Gil" familiar the bat like thing? Or is there something else I 100%'d the map and items, so maybe I somehow missed that

It's an Easter Egg that doesn't count towards map progression.

Hint 1:
If you 100% the game, you would have found 5 red keys. 4 of these red keys led to new characters and useful items. Have you investigated the 5th red key door location that gave neither thoroughly?
Hint 2:
The red key door that leads to the blindfolded statue has a secret exit to an area not documented on the in-game map. Gil is somewhere in there.

Oh, no I thought the blindfolded statue was used some other way. I swear I explored that room for a secret exit, but maybe not. What other secrets are there which aren't documented on the map, that you're aware of?

The blindfolded statue itself has nothing to do with the secret. It's just the room that it is in. I think the blindfold is a cheeky way to say there is an exit that you can't see in the room. Also, you'll need to use a Magic Block to get there.

Right I figured you didn't have to use it, I just didn't think that room was used for anything besides another game mode or something. I'll have to give that secret a go
