ISLANDERS

What's your top score?
I think my top score is about 25 or 26k right now. My high score before that was 15k.

I'm trying to determine some strategies to elevate my score even higher. Anyone care to share their tips and insights to get their high scores? Of the heavy-hitter buildings, what's your favorite? I'd have to say my favorite building is the Marketplace, however I once got about 215 points for one Temple placement.

EDIT: I'm going to mark Kreigor's post as an answer demonstrating some amazing strategies, but there are many more amazing strategies users have shared in this thread. Thank you to everyone for contributing; please don't hesitate to continue sharing.

Current run is 120,690 ongoing, 23rd place and I just got a new island.

My main strategy is to focus on 3 main buildings and their "groups" of buildings that support them.
1) Temples. Focus on averaging these above 150 pts. I will try to put this near a cliff feature to allow for Mason stacking and build around a guesstimated size hole for the temple to fit into. Once I get it, I hover it over the spot and fill in every possible spot in its radius to maximize score. These tend to end up near my Mansion groupings, which are built near the gold source when available.

2) Resorts. Average for a resort is also above 150. These can easily break 200 consistently when you surround them with Fields, Parks, and Hops. I always build a separate area for these and load all of my agriculture on one side with parks/plateaus/water plateaus on the other. This will also give you a strong area for Monuments, as they love parks and have no negatives from Resorts.

267 Pt Resort

3) Wall Plateaus. Houses scale much better then Mansions, and when you start layering wall plateaus over existing House groupings, you will get to see point values as high as 50-60 for each house. Try to always have at least 1 decent cliff side near your main groupings and stack the Wall Plats off each other.

These three generate enough points carry me through most Islands and packs. With the new update, Monuments have become huge out in the Park/Resort areas, and figuring out Seaweed farms has been fun. I'm experimenting with doubling up the Seaweed farms to get 20+ points per field. The offset ranges is interesting and I would like to see it used on other items.

(edited to add this, as it happened just now)

My favorite building would actually be the Hut. These little sleepers can be the champions of any Island, netting you 30+ points with good placement.

Hope these help you out.

Well, my top score after a couple of games is only about 6k.
I came here looking for tips... So I'll be curious to see other answers.
Cheers

I would say split your mansions and normal houses up into 2 villages. try and save one of the 2 kinds of buildings until you have a 2nd city center.

20k is my best atm. My heavy-hitter changes a lot depending on the map layout and order of what i get. Market seems to be the easiest with temple my worst. I also think there are some really underated mid-level things. I've 70+ on fountains and 120+ on things like taverns

I feel subpar all of the sudden. LOL. I did get up to just over 7K but placed a temple to get that achievement of losing 100 points in a game, so it ended up just under 7K instead.

I'm just a beginner. My first go ended at 7.830. Now I have a game going that's up to over 6.000 at this point and I can start a new island if I want.
I'm slowly learning what works and what not.

Great game!, very addictive :steamhappy:

I figured there were people that had found ways to get *too many points to seemingly go on forever. I'm rank 437 with 39k(?) atm. I think there are some buildings that have way higher potential then others, I find mansions to be bottom of the barrel, houses, and huts can easily pull 20 to 30 points a shot when placed right.

Things to keep an eye out for are, using your wall plats over top of your mansion pile to drop your temple on.

Leaving space in you beach hops to fill in with strip parks, aswell as leaving space for your 2nd brewery and 2 resorts.

Unless you can keep them far from your huts, lumber yards almost never seem to be worth it. If you do chose to go with them, Find a large forest around a statue an stagger them so you can keep placing more sawmills on multiples later on.

Markets will get you ahead early if you can plan your warehouses and keep your city tight. The game can often give you up to 3 of these and even a 2nd one can be tough to get value out of.

Brickhouses, sand wheels, an masons. The beach away from your resort is best. Try not to pick this early unless your on a desert island you will end up with way to many sand wheels. Masons are great, save them for when you are going to drop your temple above your mansion pile. At 25 points a shot per touching the temple you can take a hit when placing them near each other.

The monument, Oh man I havent got the hang of abusing this yet, but when you run out of choices the game throws walls and parks at you. Always leave small rows in your cities to drop double sided walls in between them, walls can easily hit high 20's and wont be wasted. Keeping an area to mass parks around your mansions an then dropping your monument down can net 70 to 100 points easily.

A shaman can easily fill the bill of a city center for mansions or houses, you get 5 points instead of 6, but that won't be enough to make a difference, always have shamans in your housing to double down on each with a well placed row of houses

Giers above gives some really great advice on walls and parks, and just spacing and planning ahead in general. :)

Thanks for the tips guys. I also found that parks are great near the farming area when you place a resort.
