The problem is the visiting traders have been overlooked in the EA development, and don't cater for the specific biome rolled randomly or chosen as an option.
For instance I have a clay soil but after 40 years have only had one trader visit and offer to sell sand, or glassware.
I do however regularly get one that wants to buy sand and glass from me lol.
I rerolled so many time the map seeds to get fun map. Not the flats one. +++10times
updated: I been played over 100hours now I finally found roots and willow in the map.
Have you explored the whole game map? Maybe its rare in ur map seed?
The only map I've been able to find that actually has lots of everything is this one.

I've yet to find another like it by twiddling with the seed. Close but still missing sand.
The kiln should be producing charcoal ~ not coal. Can't quite wrap my head around that one, especially since I'm married to a knifemaker/blacksmith (with almost 50 years of experience) who does make his own charcoal along with forges, casting molds, etc.
It's even in the name. Char Coal.
Charcoal is a black carbon residue produced by heating wood, animal, and plant matter using low oxygen.
Coal is a sedimentary rock, and is formed when peat is subjected to heat and pressure over millions of years.
They are nothing like each other either in their formation, their chemical makeup, or their uses. Both can be used in a forge but for very specific and different production.
