We can see in one screenshot the attackers at the gates and they all appear to be human soldiers from what you can make out. But as I said this is just my belief I don't know for sure either way.
That is called real life... its not much fun recently
I was being humorous or rather failing to be...
And if you want to split hairs any game set in a fictional or even alternate reality setting has 'fantasy elements'
It's probably very difficult for developers to get it "right", some people would not buy a game without some fantasy heroes or magic while others would not buy it if they spot some small detail that does not look historically incorrect.
Maybe the option of modding will solve that problem.
I think Colonisation is low fantasy (to me at least) historic would be say games like Ultimate General: Civil War, and high fantasy is say Warhammer Total War.
We don't know for sure yet but I think Farthest Frontier is looking like low fantasy, in that its an earth like setting with no high fantasy elements (we are aware of yet) like an alternate new world sort of setting.
There is no "fantasy" elements. Nor will there be. Tho if you are astute you may notice some little GD Easter eggs.
Of note: it is made in Unity and Crate have hinted that they will likely support modding after official release.
Mods would be super nice, but the game should be opened to mods, otherwise we would need to use sophisticated tools, and I don't think there will be so many modders doing reverse engineering if the game does not became one of those 'top mainstream' as Warcraft 3 in strategy.
