Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition

Tips for beginners?
Just started Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth today. I'm pretty new to the Digimon game franchise. Any helpful tips for beginners who is just learning this game? (I'm on chapter 2 right now)

A few, actually. One, raise a PlatinumNumemon when you can. It evolves from BlackKingNumemon, Etemon, Superstarmon, and GoldNumemon. It gives a massive boost to how much XP you get from battles when it's part of the combat, so you can use it to massively cut down on your grind time. Two, when you develop on your farms you should do the 1k route. It can give you Tactician USBs which, when equipped, also boost your XP from fights. You could also save-scum these if you want, but it's definitely not necessary. Aside from that, mostly just basic JRPG stuff. Don't shy away from consumables, pay attention to type effectiveness, use stat-boosting skills (By the way, INT in these games is basically equivalent to Gen 1 Pokemon Special, which means it's your magic attack AND magic defense). You know, the usual stuff.

Edit: Play the game on normal if you don't like grinding. A lot of fights in hard basically turn into stat-checks where you have to maintain a bunch of boosts to win and it can force you into situations where you have to grind a lot. Save a bunch, too. If you lose a fight, you'll get kicked to the title screen and have to start from your last save.

Platinum Sukamon is another option. It doesn't grant as much XP, but it's only a champion so you can get it much earlier. They all stack, so for best results you use 3x platinum numemon/sukemon all with tactician USBs. In the right areas you can end up getting as much as 50 levels in a single battle.

Because of the above, you really shouldn't worry too much about optimizing your party early game. Even if you play on hard mode, what digimon you train early on won't really make any difference in the end because of how quickly you can get exp later.
Another nice way to start out with grind earlier - pick the cog starter and use the lvl 20 evolution route to get into sukamon instantly.. this will give a huge early exp boost before you reach the above.

A single platinum Sukamon alone is only a 1.5x boost. Not worth having a literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the party for that. It's only good when you stack it, because they multiply each other and any tactician USBs you have as well. 3 platinum sukamons + 6 tactician USBS is 17.5x exp. 3x platinum numamons + 9 tactician usbs is a lot more, but I never checked the exact number.
It's totally worth when you don't have any other option tho. Makes boosting the rest to that tier much easier.. The only other way to reach decent exp fast enough is to save scum. Early on everything one shots most stuff anyway.
You have strong bias upon already reaching that tier.. I just reached the tier of platinum numas + 9 usbs and I must say the most important part of the grind was actually getting that 1 sukamon to start the snowball effect.

But overall game is so badly balanced that there is honestly no need to discuss such trivial things. You literally have to grind ages without using either tactician USB(which new player is unlikely to discover by the end of game without consulting something online) or ♥♥♥♥/numas.. and player can easily miss those for whole game as well...
Thanks for the answers everyone! I'll take all these into consideration :D

What they tell you about PlatinumNumemon is one of the first objectives you should have (at least one Numemon and the ideal would be 2 because if you use 3 the fighting will get too long), the next objective would be to get digimons with special drills and as advice, Breed a Craniumon or Jesmon you won't regret it at a certain time.

Then I could give you tips on building digimons but that is something you really only need if you decide to play PvP or do a hard NG + looking to squeeze the maximum mechanics offered by the game.

PD: Also get a digimon type Free because this will enable you level 2 of the hacker skill that forces a fight.

There's no need to rush anything. Normal should be easy enough with whatever you use and the early chapters of Hard should only require a bit of type matching and very minimal grinding. You can do the exp boost party later, when you are far enough into the game that leveling up those required digimon is trivial. You HAVE to wait anyway, because you need enough party memory for both the numemons/sukemons AND whatever digimon you are trying to grind, preferably 2 or 3 at once all the way to Mega.
Hagurumon -> Gold Numemon -> Platinum Numemon

Gold Numemon can just skip to Mega with no Ultimate Stage in between.

You'll need to slide up and down to get Gold Numemon to get to Level 64, since that's the requirement for evolution.

You can get 3 platiniumnumemon at chapter 4. I did it but I evolved goldnumemon to vademon to get nightmare 3 (lvl 45) after you dedigvolve to goldnumemon and go to platiniumnumemon. It takes a few hours but later I will be able to have a team of 3 platiniumnumemon that does damage.

Also note that Gold Numemon can be good for early game if you want to buy any of the T-shirts.
i know a lot of people are saying to get the platinum digimon, and once i get them myself i will probably agree with them, but i like to grind the xp with the arena on the 4th floor of the Nakano building. Just have to force yourself to lose on the last battle so you can keep redoing it to gain more xp and money and items.
Here's something for later game, or if you have a few extra digimon early on;
digivolve and de-evolve plenty. Every time you get ABI points, which raises max level, allow bonus stat points through training on the farm (and also allow certain evolutions).
Obviously you get more ABI points if you digivolve from a higher level.
The max. is 200, but basically you'll be fine with 80 ABI for changing into most digimon.

The stat boost isn't really necessary for the story mode, but it's always nice to have a few OP digimon to cruise through it.

Also; exp grinding is nice, but if you're short on cash, try grinding with a Princemamemon team, they give money boosts.
In fact, keep an eye on those passive skills for all your digimon, some of them has a status barrier and instant death barrier, which may be useful in some fights if you don't have the barrier equips...
