So can we say that . . . [STORY SPOILERS]
Norah's grandpa was from Innsmouth who had a kid with a Deep One, and that's why Norah and her mother have this "sickness?" At one point when we see an Innsmouth can of food, she describes the sailor has being "a ringer for her grandfather." Otherwise, do we come across any other explanation for how Norah is "their daughter?"

I somehow feel like it is even more ancient than that (like maybe a direct line of human/water animal hybrids or a direct line from the Nacaal that had the god's blood or something), but I don't have any proof of this other than just my general sense that the music box and the whole situation had been passed down through generations. But again not sure, just my interpretation!!

If you look at your notes during the final sequence of the game (any time past where you find the body in the chair, up until you make your final choice), it shows you Norah's family tree. Off the top of my head, I don't recall exactly how many generations it shows, but I think you're correct Helstern. Either her grandpa or great-grandpa had a kid with a Deep One or whatever they're named in the game.

Norah's great-grandpa Obed (Marsh) married a lovely lady by the name of Pthi'thya-l'yi. Interesting sidenote: One of their daughters, Norah's great-aunt Alice, birthed the line that ends (at least as of 1934) with Robert Olmstead, Norah's second cousin and the protagonist of Lovecraft's The Shadow over Innsmouth.
