[FIXED!] No Audio in Cutscenes?
TURNS OUT I NEEDED TO REINSTALL MY AUDIO DRIVERS! THANKS TO THE DEV WHO RESPONDED TO MY SUPPORT REQUEST IN THE DISCORD (AND TO NEMESYS9999 WHO REPLIED TO ME HERE). I APPRECIATE YOU BOTH!

Has anyone else had an issue where audio in cutscenes doesn't play? I started up a fresh game and the opening cinematic has no audio whatsoever. The main menu music plays and other sounds are working (such as the tick tick tick of hovering your mouse over options in the menu), but as soon as I click "New Game", there's nothing (and sometimes, not even the logo sounds play, but the main menu music does).

What I've tried to resolve the issue so far:

- Verifying the integrity of the game files on Steam
- Restarting my computer
- Making sure my headset wasn't turned off by accident
- Switching audio from surround sound to stereo
- Exiting out of Corsair's ICUE software
- Re-installing the game
- Re-verifying the files again
- Disabling Fullscreen Optimization
- Plugging my headset into the computer via its charging cord (just to see)
- Moving the install from my (D:) drive over to my (C:) Drive

My hardware specs are:

OS: Windows 11
GPU: RTX 3060
CPU: i5-12600k
RAM: 16 GB of DDR4 3600 MHz
Boot Drive: SP 512GB SSD
Storage (and where the game is installed): Western Digital Black SN750 NVME

As for peripherals, my headset is a Corsair HS70 Pro Wireless Gaming Headset. I've not had this issue with any other game on this computer. Any ideas what might be up? Is it to do with my surround sound?

Any help with this would be appreciated. I'm not sure what else to try.

Windows 11. Sorry. Should have specified OS. I've updated my post with that information--as well as with what other troubleshooting steps I've now taken.

Ok, with Win11, you can try the following :
Go to into your Windows System Sound Settings, Select the device you want it to go through, under "Enhance Audio" there's an advanced option, click on that.
The device properties should come up. Go to the advanced tab.
Then you have 2 options (try them one by one to see if it fixes the problem) : or turning off "audio enhancement", and/or unticking the box for "Give exclusive mode application priority" (for the game channel and chat channel)

Thank you for the suggestion! After some back-and-forthing with support, it turned out to be as simple as my needing to reinstall my audio drivers and making sure I'm exited out of ICUE while playing (since audio enhancement software and KOARR don't mix well, it seems)!

I'll update my post with a big ol' FIXED! Again, I appreciate you taking the time to respond <3

I have had the same problem but on Win10, anybody know how to get this fixed?

After trying several suggestions with audio drivers and sound settings without success, I found a way that fixed it for me:

- Ingame change language from auto to desired language
- close the game
- Verifying the integrity of the game files
3 .pak files were missing/updated (de_de.pak, en_us.pak and patch_0.pak)
2 video files were missing/updated
- relaunch game
- enjoy the audio

Hope this helps.

If you have surround sound, try changing to stereo, that fixed it for me.

I think I know what the deal with emulated surround sound is--and how to fix it (in Windows 10): I noticed that the Bink videos play just fine in a regular video player like KMPlayer. I also noticed that the audio tracks are all mixed in mono and stereo. That makes me think it's the Bink player in game that messes things up. And indeed, as soon as I disabled the exclusive mode in the audio settings (which grants applications exclusive control of the audio interface, bypassing any further sound processing!) the problem was solved! It's an easy thing to miss.
