True but saving is a mess in this game. I only want like 2 or 3 saves for 1 character. What they really need to do is bring back save profiles from the original. That was a nice qol feature that's missing here.
Anyway I deleted some of my saves directly from the save folder and it seems to be good now for the most part.
Also lmao I didn't know there was a Geralt emoji here 🤣
Yea that's what I figured. I got the problem resolved but haven't had much time to play the game since. I'll look into which save files to not touch next time I use the save editor. It's probably mentioned somewhere on Nexus and I just didn't read it.
How did you get it resolved please... and if you find out what files can you post in here..?
I have only used the save editor to get rid of the annoying icons from stolen stuff and and to remove things that it won't let you sell or destroy, mostly books..
Well I had to investigate a bit. When I had the game open I went to where it's installed (right-click the game in Steam and browse local files). Then I opened the .log file and scrolled to the very bottom. From there I did as I explained (poorly) in my op.
So run the game and open that .log file and go from there. You can post the log text here if you want. My power is out currently so I can't help more than this.
How is the log file helpful though..? I'll take a look, thanks..
I'll check that too, thanks..
I also was deleting saves and ended up with this issue. When I went to load my game I got the can't read message saying I had to play offline and could not save, or something like that.
The only saves it could read was my last autosave even though the save files were there. I had run into this ages ago on the original version of the game so I just gave up on playing for now.. At least now, thx to this thread, I know that the cause is the save editor...
Damn..... that did it..! I went to my save folder and removed the backup folder and now the game can read all my saves again. That's great, thankyou VERY much.. :)
